If you've ever had a shoot at my home where I also have my studio, you'll know I have an extremely short assistant who (despite his height) somehow manages to make his way into the bottom of way too many photos. This is Pablo. He's basically just like my old office dog, Greta (who was a GSP), with much shorter legs.

Here are a few more favourite frames from Cam and Aleisha's awesome Crab Farm wedding a couple of weeks ago. I'm just about to share with them all 894 images from their day. Who remembers how exciting it felt to get their own wedding photos back?!
What I often hear from my couples is how many moments I shot that they don't even remember happening because the day went so fast and was so emotionally overwhelming. I get most of my candid shots via a long 200mm telephoto zoom lens so I'm able to spy on connections between people from a distance.
This wedding had heaps of cool little family moments happening to the side of the main 'event' so I know there will be lots of treats waiting to be enjoyed in this gallery.

From North Carolina to NZ…Renée and Zach wanted to create some special memories of their trip Down Under so they met me at during their stay at . I could have spent all night chatting to these two cool humans. Six years married and they looked at each other like newlyweds. It really topped up my soul spending a sunset with them.

Almost eight years ago to the day, Zania and Jono created their honeymoon baby. I always remember this as my youngest was created at almost the exact same time and our babies had a similar due date.

They have been a LOT busier than me since then, though, and are the incredible parents of four strapping sons, aged 7 and under. Phew! Hard core. It was so much fun trying to capture them all for a photo together.

I find it odd how photographers describe themselves as ‘capturing’ a photo or moment, as though it’s some crazy wild animal on the loose. But I think when it came to this busy little crew, the word was very appropriate! Just as well I had a very fast shutter speed. 😍

This was the last slot of my recent wildflower family mini sessions. If you’d like to be on next years’ mini session or 2025 spring wildflower wait list please DM me your email address. I’m not doing schedule family portraits anymore just to make time for my other business Natter Web Design

Sometimes I'm at a wedding and it just feels like hanging out with family. The vibe was right where it should be at Cam and Aleisha's wedding at Crab Farm Winery - Hawke's Bay on Saturday. I was so stoked to be part of it.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen two humans quite so STOKED to get married. Breton and Lucy took ‘love, laughter and happy ever after’ to new heights at on Saturday. Seriously - they laughed ALL day. My mouth muscles really hurt at the end of this wedding from smiling so much myself!

I was so happy for Kerri and Matt that a beautiful sunset arrived for a few fleeting moments at their glorious first wedding not just as owners of amazing Hawke's Bay wedding venue .nz but as bride and groom.
The day had so many little candid moments which I can't wait to share but you know me, I'm a sucker for golden backlit silhouettes.

It was lovely to read all about Brittany and Angus’ wedding on the Astra Bridal blog and see what images they selected from this gorgeous wedding.

Me with the two great loves of my professional life...my Canon R6 camera teamed up with the RF 70-200 f2.8 lens (my happy place is shooting candidly from a distance and I adore the perspective this lens gives me stretched right out at 200 especially for people in our amazing Hawke's Bay landscapes) and...my MacBook Pro, which works tirelessly for me taking good photos and making them great thanks to all the whizz-bang AI tech that's coming on board daily with the editing software I use (mostly Lightroom).

I've done all sorts of things over 20 years with my editing workflow, including outsourcing it overseas and also having full-time, in-house editors over the busy wedding season.

These days I feel I've nailed it for me professionally by keeping my shoots to a number where I can do all the editing myself. Over time and with advancements in software, I truly feel like the edit delivers at least 50% of the wow factor in a professional image. I'd really love to show you some before and afters so you could appreciate what I mean. But also I'd love you to go on thinking I just totally nailed it in-camera and that just happened to be the best sunset ever documented in real life...and yes, your eyes really do look that blue and your skin that luminous lol.

Jordyn and Jason got married last season and I loved creating some special memories then with them, the kids and a few (like...umm...maybe 9??!!) of the pooches. But it was a FULL ON and fast day. So how cool for me that they came back for a mini session last week and I got to play some more.

I always want my family portraits to remind parents of the joy of raising a young family. The time goes so fast, and is 95% BLOODY HARD WORK. Documenting the 5% for posterity is what really brings me joy.

I'm not scheduling (many) family portrait sessions these days but might do a few more groups of mini-sessions. If this is something you'd like to know about in future please DM me your email address or pop it in the comments and I'll add you on a list :)

"If you love something, let it go. If it comes back, it's yours forever."

How true these wise words turned out to be for Jacqui and Bob, who were married for 20 years, raised two beautiful daughters, decided to divorce but then fell in love all over again 20 years later. It was one of the most special moments of my very long career as a wedding photographer to see the overwhelming love in this couple's eyes as Jacqui walked down the aisle towards Bob for the second time in her life.

The first of my little spring wildflower fairies. Skye lives at the end of the street and has been one of my son’s best buddies since they were babies. As a mother of boys, I borrow her now and again when the urge to plait hair or paint nails calls. And keeping it in the family, her nana grows all my Gazania daisies so all I have to do is plant them. Which is actually no mean feat…250 last weekend alone but slowly my coastal rejuvenation project is taking shape year on year and it’s cool to have a reason to take photos there (and next door which is way cooler and totally wild). I’m thinking about another mini-session ‘session’ soon so if you’re interested please DM or email me and I’ll let you know if I organise something.

So who else out there totally buzzes out on paddocks of overgrown wildflowers and sea breezes? For the past couple of weeks I’ve been in my absolute happy place starting each morning with a walk among the coastal poppies, daisies and Red Valerian that fight for space all around my Bay View studio. I don’t normally do mini sessions and I’ve actually stoped family shoots all together (for now) so if you’ve been meaning to have a family or couple shoot with me but have never got around to it or perhaps not had the budget for a dedicated session, THIS SATURDAY is for you! Eight sessions only (well 7 since I asked my friend if she thought this was a good idea lol). DM to reserve your time slot.

This time of year I start every morning walking my sausage dog through the wildflowers that take over the coastal pathways of Bay View and I am constantly smiling. To me, they are nature at its absolute best. I’ve actually stopped doing family photography for now (sorry…I should have probably said!) and I’ve never done mini sessions before…but this show from Mother Nature is just too good to keep to myself so THIS SATURDAY ONLY I’ve decided to schedule 8 mini session slots (well one went the moment I asked my friend if she thought this was a good idea) for any families and couples who love my style but have never been quite organised or had the budget to have a dedicated shoot with me. The weather is looking lovely so first in, first served. Send me a message with your preferred time or tag someone you know who would love this.

Long time no see! I’ve been very low key on my social media channels lately as it’s been a really busy time building websites for my other business, .web.design, during the quieter photography months for me.
Fortunately the sites (in construction and childcare) have involved lots of photography, because bringing together my skill set of web design, photography and writing is my favourite thing to do.
But I’ll be back in the swing of posting fresh wedding content here as my season officially kicks off this coming weekend. I can’t wait!

PS I’m also going to try a lot harder to front my business. I spend my life photographing other people but tbh I don’t really enjoy it when it’s my turn. Fortunately the lovely Suzy at made it easy for me!
