A great photo of a great building! It has changed a lot since then. The floorboards are stained with lanolin from the volume of wool that went through. When it gets hot in the sun, the lanolin pools on top of the wood!

Photograph of the Napier Woollen Company Limited mills on Main Street in Napier, taken during 1910-20 period, showing workers taking delivery of bales of wool. The mill opened in 1902 and operated on the site until 1967 when it was closed after being purchased by UEB Carpets.
The mill manufactured a wide range of clothing and household items from wool that was scoured and processed into yarn onsite. Today their “Homeleigh” and “Monarch” branded travel blankets made at this site are keenly sought after by Retro period collectors, which is testimony to the quality of the company’s products.
