Catering Assistant/Kitchen Assistant
About us:
In the heart of Oamaru sits our small family-run business called The Kitchen. We are a fast paced Catering company that offers services for a wide range of events.
Our Healthy School Lunch program, which is a key component of our Catering business, gives students , at a number of district primary schools a nutritious lunch that will energize them for the day. We take pleasure in supporting our employees, and we have a welcoming workplace culture. We are a small business who are excited to seek a new team member to work alongside us.
Key Duties:
- Food preparation, and serving of food
- Comply with our companies health and safety regulations, alongside our hygiene regulations
- Working both independently and alongside our small team
- Report any issues you have with management
- General cleaning, including emptying bins, dishes, wiping down work surfaces, sweeping, moping, and deep cleans of our work environment when required
- Willingness to work in a fast paced environment
- Basic cutting and cooking
- Organising and storing goods, and stock rotation
- Loading the delivery vehicle up with the tubs ready for delivery
About you:
You will:
- Preferably have previous experience of working with food
- Be passionate about the quality of the food you are creating
- Be a team player, who is willing to work together with our other staff members
- Have an eye for detail
- Be familiar with kitchen hygiene
- Be a reliable person, capable of working both independently and as a team
- Be physically fit
- Be willing to provide additional support with staff absences
- Be enthusiastic and friendly as you will occasionally be dealing with customers
- Have a professional personal presentation, with a friendly attitude
- Have the ability to have clear communication, dominantly English preferred
- Have basic cutting and cooking schools, more advanced skills is preferred
- Have NZ residency, or a valid NZ work visa
- Have your full drivers license, as you will occasionally be required for deliveries, or pick ups of stock
Hours of work:
Minimum of 25 hours of work. Your start time would vary from 7:30am-8:30am. This position is weekly Monday to Friday. Our work aligns with the school term, meaning your hours are strictly in the school term.
