In France the wine region of Bordeaux is divided by the Gironde Estuary that connects the Atlantic Ocean to two rivers. The regions that are located between the two rivers and to the west (left) are called the Left Bank and are famous for Cabernet Sauvignon dominant red blends.⁠

As a nod to our French friends and a description of what to expect from this delicious drop, our winemaker Daniel choose it's name.⁠

Here are his tasting notes:⁠

'Dark garnet edge with a deep crimson centre. Concentrated red⁠
and black currants, blackberries, plum, lavender, dried herbs,⁠
spice and vanilla. Plush tannin structure, supple mid palate, followed by a velvety and juicy finish. Enjoy drinking now, decanting recommended, will benefit from careful cellaring for 5 to 8 years.'⁠

We are looking for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, wine-loving Cellar Door Assistant & Wine Ambassador to start in early August. The purpose of the role is to provide our guests with an exceptional wine-tasting experience.

ABOUT US
We are the highest vineyard on the island offering award-winning wines, exquisite food and amazing views to match. At our boutique winery we focus on Chardonnay, Syrah and Bordeaux blends and we are the only Sparkling wine growers and producers on the island. Our wines speak of the diversity of our soils, character of the vines, challenges of the season and commitment of our team to produce distinctive, complex, and concentrated wine.

KEY TASKS

🍷Maximise visits to the Batch Winery Cellar Door and ensure all visitors receive a premium experience executed with a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
🍷Act as a brand ambassador, hosting tastings with a high degree of professionalism, offering superior wine, brand and regional knowledge.
🍷Assist the restaurant team as required
🍷Assist with the tasting room operations including opening and closing procedures, cash management, bookings, stock management and ensuring a high standard of presentation and hygiene.
🍷Assist with preparation, packing and dispatching of national and international orders
🍷Assist with tour groups in our state-of-the-art winery and vineyard

JOB REQUIREMENTS

🍷Flexibility – As our cellar door is a 7-day operation you will be required to work weekends and public holidays.
🍷Team Spirit and Confidence - You must be able to collaboratively operate the Cellar Door as part of our team, and be confident to independently host groups.
🍷Wine Knowledge – Proven wine knowledge and previous industry experience are preferred. WSET, CMS and other wine certifications are a plus. However, extensive training will be provided
🍷Current Manager's Certificate

Getting there: Batch bus connects Matiatia with Batch hourly & return during open hours. The bus is $12pp return and must be pre-booked.
