It was such an awesome turnout at our 3rd Annual Christmas Magic community luncheon at the Paeroa RSA on Monday, 2 December 2024. Thank you very much to those who have attended the event. We have successfully raised another $400 for the Paeroa RSA Building Fund, $400 for NZ Breast Cancer Foundation and $200 for Kids Can.

Our deepest gratitude goes out to everyone who have supported us in the raffles, the Paeroa RSA for allowing us to use their premises for all our community events, our amazing sponsors, Lorraine and Pete C, Jan and Ian M, Diane C and Joanne B for some of the gifts in our raffles. Thank you very much for your generosity and support in our community events.

To date, we have successfully fund raised $5504 for the Paeroa RSA Building Fund, $2750 for Pink Ribbon NZ Breast Cancer Foundation, $100 for the Paeroa RSA Women's Section, $1070 for Gumboot Friday, $1172 for Angelina and $400 for Papauta Elive - Ms Waikato NZ 2023 Candidate, $250 for Children In Care Thames, $600 for KidsCan and $200 for Canteen Aotearoa. So a billion thanks goes out to everyone who have made all of this possible.

As this year comes to a close, let us continue to spread love and kindness especially to those in need.

Mel's Catering Paeroa is pleased to announce that we will be having our third annual Christmas Magic Community Luncheon on 2 Dec 2024 at the Paeroa RSA from 12 to 3pm. Priority will be given to the elderly who do not have the benefit of family or loved ones this Christmas. We want to continue to spread the Christmas joy and love, like we have done for the last four years, to those who need them most.

There are only 100 spaces available and bookings and prepayment are essential for the confirmation of seats and for catering purposes. Please also let us know if you have any food allergies upon booking. We also encourage "Paying it forward" for your friends or family members attending the event. Nothing beats the spirit of giving and spreading the love this Christmas. The cost is $10 per head. You can contact Mel at 021759546 or email him at [email protected].

There will also be great entertainment by Rangi and Bruce, singalongs, Christmas trivia quiz with prizes, lucky draws and giftaways by Santa. Christmas raffles will also be available and the proceeds will go to the Paeroa RSA Building Fund, KidsCan and NZ Breast Cancer Foundation.

A massive thank you to all the attendees of last Saturday's final FIKA Luncheon of 2024. It was an enjoyable afternoon for everyone. Once again, we have successfully raised yet another $350 for the Paeroa RSA Building Fund and $200 for Canteen Aotearoa. This is made possible, as always, by the generosity of those who have supported us in our raffles. Our utmost gratitude also goes out to our sponsors, Valley Funeral Services, Lorraine and Pete, Jan M and Joanne for some of the gifts in our raffles. Thank you very much for your generosity and support of our community events.

A huge thank you to our superstars of the afternoon, Joanne and Jessica, Kitt and whanau, Sarah and the beautiful music played by our lovely pianist Lorraine, all of whom have all contributed to the smooth running and success of the event and creating yet another memorable afternoon. Another huge thank you to the Paeroa RSA for allowing us to use their premises as well as Patch for opening the bar for our FIKA guests.

On a side note, it was brought to our attention this week that some of our guests at our last two FiKA events were offended by the grace/prayer said by one of the FIKA guest (from the koumatuas of Paeroa) before the high tea was served. We have no intention of offending anyone. We see this as an opportunity for a genuine person to spread his love to everyone through the prayers. The other point that is brought up by the same complainer is that the food served was 1.5 hours late and as a result, it reflects badly on the RSA. For our FIKA functions, the food is usually served 45 minutes to an hour after the start time as to allow the guests to enjoy the music, have a cuppa whilst catching up with their friends, buying raffles to support our fund raising causes and participating in the trivia quiz. The food served this time was slightly later than usual owing to a technical issue with the ovens. We do apologise for that but also seek your understanding to this matter. Even though we are an independent contractor of the RSA, we work very closely with it to make it a warm and sociable place for our community. As said in one of my previous posts earlier this year, if you have any concerns whatsoever with regards to our functions or need clarification in any matter, please contact or see me directly instead of airing your greviences and making assumptions at your local hairdresser. Our mission is always to spread love and kindness through our community events.

Our year will end with our third Christmas Magic Community Luncheon which will be held on 2 December (Monday) from 12pm to 3pm at the Paeroa RSA. It will be a three course Luncheon with great entertainment and fun filled activites. So do lookout for our post on this lucheon and book early as there are only 100 spaces available. Our goal is to continue to spread love through these memorable events.

Happy November Everyone! It's time once again for our monthly "COME FIKA WITH US" Luncheon. This will be our final FIKA Luncheon for the year and it will be held at the Paeroa RSA on 2 November 2024 (Saturday) from 12 to 2.30pm.

We have come a long way with these functions, with the goal of providing an intimate social afternoon for our seniors with great fun, great food and great entertainment, at a very reasonable cost. We are very grateful for all of your support in our luncheons and generosity in our raffles, enabling us to fund raise for various charitable causes. So a massive thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

We would also like to thank all the attendees of our last FIKA function on 5 October 2024. Even though the scheduled saxophonist could not turn up owing to a medical emergency, it was still an enjoyable afternoon for those present. Once again, we have successfully raised yet another $200 for the Paeroa RSA Building Fund and $200 for Gumboot Friday. This is always made possible by the generosity of those who have supported us in our raffles. Our utmost gratitude also goes out to our sponsors, Valley Funeral Services, Lorraine and Pete, Jan M, and Joanne for some of the gifts in our raffles.
