It's FIKA time once again and we will be having our monthly "COME FIKA WITH US" Luncheon on 19 August (Saturday) from 11.30am to 2pm. This will be our permanent new slot as the monthly mini market has been terminated. Fans of Mel's yummy scones can get them at our lunches on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 11 to 2pm starting next week (with the exception of Tuesday 1 August where we will be closed owing to carpet repair works at the club).

Please book early as spaces are limited. You can text or call Mel at 021759546 or email him at [email protected]. Pre payment is also essential for confirmation and catering purposes. This can be done online or at the club prior to the event.

A massive thank you to all our attendees of our monthly COME FIKA WITH US Luncheon held at the Paeroa RSA yesterday. We have successfully raised $800 for our two amazing candidates of Mrs Waikato 2023 Pageant, Ms Angelina Loveridge - Ms Waikato 2023 Candidate and Ms Papauta Elive - Ms Waikato NZ 2023 Candidate. We are very blessed to be able to fund raise for their pageant journey expenses.

Our utmost gratitude goes to Paeroa RSA for allowing us to use its venue for all our community events and also a platform to raise awareness for different charities. Our superstars of the day, Lyn, Joanne, Anita, Angelina, Papauta, Fenella and Patch, all of whom helped create another successful and memorable event. Special thanks to our lovely pianist Lorraine, Alison and Mike for their delightful performance, and to our wonderful MCs and quiz mistresses Angelina and Papauta.

A huge thank you to Valley Funeral Services for their donation of the 10 FIKA entrance tickets and Shirley and Donna from Auckland, for their donation of the two Auckland Zoo entrance tickets. These were the prizes of our third raffle. Many thanks to all the whanau and friends of Angelina and Papauta for their undying support in purchasing the raffle tickets online and to everyone who have supported the purchase of our raffle tickets. It is very heartening to have the community come together to support a good cause!

Our next FIKA Luncheon will be held at the Paeroa RSA on 19 August 2023 from 2 to 430pm. The slight change in timing gives us more setup and preparation time after the mini market ends at 1230pm. It's time once again for our next COME FIKA WITH US Luncheon,
which will be held at the Paeroa RSA on 15 July 2023 from 130 to 4 pm.

It will be a fun-filled afternoon with great music from our lovely pianist Lorraine and from the dynamic duo, Alison and Mike of The Quarter Acre Band, trivia quiz with door prizes, a few raffles where the proceeds will be used as a fundraiser for two of our Mrs Waikato 2023 beauty pageant candidates Ms Angelina Loveridge and Ms Papauta Elive, for their pageant journey expenses.

Both candidates will also be giving a short talk to introduce themselves as well as to promote their advocacy of raising awareness and advocating sexual abuse and domestic violence. This luncheon is also open to the supporters of these candidates in view of the fundraiser.

It was a fantastic turnout at our 3rd Annual Mid Winter Christmas Magic community luncheon at the Paeroa RSA on Monday. Thank you very much to those who have attended the event. We have successfully raised another $362 for the Paeroa RSA Building Fund and our deepest gratitude goes out to everyone who have supported us in the raffles and especially those who have paid it forward for some of our guests at the event.

A huge thank you to the superstars who have made this luncheon successful and memorable - Leonie, Heather, Allie, Margaret, Elaine, Carol, Tove, Alva, Lynne, Angelina, Anita, Franco, Helen and Connie. Special thanks goes to Alison and Mike from The Quarter Acre Band for their wonderful entertainment, Edi for playing the role of Santa, Sunnys Paeroa for donating the Santa outfit and last but not least, our amazing MC and quiz mistress Michelle, who has flown all the way from Sweden to assist us in our event. Thank you so so much from the bottom of our hearts.

Our next community event will be the COME FIKA WITH US Luncheon, which will be held on Saturday 15 July 2023 from 130 to 4pm at the Paeroa RSA. Bookings are essential as spaces are limited. Mel's Catering Paeroa will be organising our third annual Mid-Winter Christmas Magic Luncheon for the elderly who do not have the benefit of family or loved ones, or who struggle to feed themselves. We want to continue to spread the mid-winter Christmas cheer and love, like we have done for the last two years, to those who need them most.

The event will be held at the RSA on 3 July 2023, Monday, at 1230 pm. There are only 70 spaces available and bookings are essential.

We will do something different this year. We will have 30 spaces for nominated guests and 40 spaces opened to the public. For the nominees, we encourage "Paying it forward" for people who have nominated them. The cost is $10 per head. Pre payment is also essential for confirmation of seats and for catering purposes. There will also be great entertainment and singalongs, Christmas trivia quiz with prizes, lucky draws and giftaways by Santa. Christmas raffles will also be available and all proceeds will go to the Paeroa RSA Building Fund.

Thank you very much to all the attendees of the PINK RIBBON LUNCHEON on Saturday. Your constant support and generosity has been greatly appreciated. We have successfully raised $2000 for the NZ Breast Cancer Foundation through our raffles, all the proceeds of the cover fees as well as cash donations.

Our utmost gratitude goes to everyone who has helped us out to make this fundraiser event yet another memorable and successful one. A huge kudos to the Paeroa RSA Woman's Section (Barbara, Kathleen, Joan, Carol L, Trea, Colleen and Kaye) for all their efforts and love in setting up the venue. Thank you Joanne, Elaine, Patch and Ron for the assistance given. Our deepest appreciation goes to our amazing MC and quiz mistress Cindy, our lovely pianist Lorraine, our delightful entertainment from Kaye and John as well as Alison and Mike, Carol Daley for her speech on breast cancer awareness and for reading out the journey of a breast cancer survivor, our warrior of the day, Robyn, who courageously shared her breast cancer survival journey with all the guests, our sponsors (Cindy, Leonie and Melba) for some of our quiz and raffle prizes and last but not least to the Paeroa RSA for allowing us to use the venue as our platform to promote our community events. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!! ❤️❤️

On a side note, we have raised a total of $1336 (3 events this year and one last year) for the Paeroa RSA Building Fund via our raffles and that does not include all the cakes we have donated for auction in the other fundraisers. We will continue to do our best in our fundraising efforts for the RSA Building Fund as well as other charity organizations through our monthly high teas and Christmas events. Your continued support to these events is greatly appreciated.

We will be teaming up with the RSA Paeroa Woman's Section to host our very own Pink Ribbon Luncheon on 20 May 2023 from 130pm to 330pm. It will be a fun filled afternoon with entertainment and activities.
The Women's Section will be selling their handmade merchandise and we will raise as much funds as we can via our raffles and the proceeds collected for the day.

To the two scoundrels who stole 8.4kg of lamb shanks, 4.6kg of beef cheeks, one half ham, 1 packet of gluten free savouries, 2kg of beef mince, 1 box of Charlie's orange juice and one sleeve of coffee cups at 634am this morning may karma get you big time.

Urchins like you both should be removed from society. If you need food, just ask but do not steal!

If anyone has seen two suspicious figures running with the goods in a box and back pack towards Marshall Street at 634am, or if anyone is selling the above stolen goods for money, please contact Mel at 021759546. We need to all work together to put a stop to these crimes.

We will be organising this event on a monthly basis, on the third Satutday of each month from 1 to 3 pm.

JOY TO THE WORLD CHRISTMAS GIVEAWAY

Mel’s Catering Paeroa will be adding some Christmas cheer to the township of Paeroa by giving away 30 Christmas Cheer parcels, which include a scrumptious Christmas treat box, a surprise gift pack and a small pot of blooms, to the elderly folks who do not have the benefit of having loved ones and friends to celebrate Christmas with or families who are struggling financially and having a rough year and in need of some Christmas sparkle to brighten their days.

Please kindly send all nominations with their contact details to [email protected] telling us why your nominees deserve the Cheer parcels. The closing date will be Friday 16 December at 6pm. Santa will be delivering the parcels on 20 December.

Mel's Catering Paeroa will be organising our second annual Mid-Winter Christmas Magic High Tea for the elderly who do not have the benefit of family or loved ones, or who struggle to feed themselves. It has been yet another challenging year with COVID and it’s sub variants and thus we want to spread the mid-winter Christmas cheer and love to those who need them most.

The event will be held at the RSA on 25 July 2021 at 12 pm. There are only 68 spaces available and bookings are essential. For nominees, please contact Elaine at 0224659161 or email her at [email protected].

The High Tea will be at no cost to the nominees and there will be great entertainment from Rangi and Judi. We will also have three raffles available and all proceeds will go to the RSA Building Fund.
