Being our first year planting sunflowers and only our second year owning the farm we have chosen to harrow first (a contentious topic). While it's not our ideal to be distrusting the 'house' of all the goodness in the soil, this is land that has been compacted forever and ever by big heavy cattle, and its been a very long wet Spring!
While the sunflowers do a good job at opening up the soil some of this paddock is also going into a diverse species pasture for weaned lambs.

Anyway, so it's all really happening . Gosh we can't wait to get the seed in the ground! π»
