Did you know that Whararata was built in 1901 for Arthur Edward Russell, a retired Manawatu farmer?

Wharerata translates to "The House of Redbeard" after Russell himself and stands as a testament to history.

Following Mrs. Ethel Russell's passing in 1951, the government acquired this storied property, transforming it into one of Massey Agricultural College's cherished lecture theatres.

From the moment I met you, Frances, I knew we were in good hands. You instantly made me laugh and relaxed me. I knew right then, and there that Wharerata was the chosen one. That continuous laughter and relaxation followed me throughout the build-up to our big day.

I'd be panicked, but a quick email or chat with you ALWAYS settled my nerves. The day was perfect, and I do not doubt that it's because of all the work you put into it. The Russell Room was exactly how I envisioned it, and everything was perfectly set up. Everything in the knook room (memorial, lolly bar) was perfect.

The food was divine, the drinks were flowing. Everything was perfect! You gave me the last-minute ""just breathe"" when I was just about to walk down the aisle and start crying. I honestly cannot thank you and your team enough.

I'm just gutted the whole thing is over. Lots of love from Julia and Stu Martin."
