Throwback Thursday!! Here's a rump cap steak we cooked a while back. How good does it look?!
Beef rump is an underrated cut we think. It's so full of flavour, and cooked well its as good as any other steak. The cap and tri-tip are two individual cuts from the rump well worth checking out.

One thing we wanted to do with our website was to keep some updated videos and blogs going on.
To be fair, we've been a bit slack on the video front, but we have done a few little write ups.

We're really looking forward to our class this Sunday!
We're going ribs ribs and steak. Pork ribs, lamb ribs, and ribeye steak. On top of that, we're also covering chicken and some butchery tips, as well as some sides and condiments you can enjoy with your barbecue.
It's going to be a great afternoon of barbecue!
And just like that, we roll into the end of 2023.
When we think back to January, we couldn't have imagined what the year would have held for us.
-We launched Smokin' Oak Barbecue, which has just been awesome and is going swimmingly!!
-We bought a great big smoker to allow us to feed lots of people. We've named her Lucille and she's quite wonderful.
-In partnership with JD Distillary, the Mile Marker 66 Gin has been launched, and we've seen the first commercial pour. Awesome work Jared! We know youve put a lot into that!
-We WON Cooks on Fire Season 2
-We've learned A LOT more about food and barbecue
-We've continued some awesome friendships and made some new ones
A special mention to our friends and families who support us in various ways. It means the world to us!
Roll on 2024. We can't wait to see what the next 12 months bring us!

Yesterday we had the pleasure of cooking at the Saints Hill Climb.
What an awesome group of people. It reminded us a little if going to a barbecue competition. A group of people who are very passionate about what they do, just setting up in a field and doing their thing.
These we're our lamb tacos and we're a real hit 🌮 we gave one a try while we had a moment!

When you're running a smaller family operation and a lot of what you do is weekend work, there are times the whole family has to pitch in.
Nathan seems a natural with the wood splitting!! He's been working out lately, and it looks like it's paying off!
We have some lamb shoulders and pork belly in the smoker today.
Our pulled lamb is one of our more popular menu items, and for good reason, it's damn tasty!
If you're like us, your childhood memories of lamb involve lamb chops or a roast leg of lamb. And while both are great cuts, a low and slow pulled lamb shoulder is something else! With a velvety texture and heaps of flavour, it's definitely a crowd pleaser. And unlike some cuts of lamb, it's pretty cost effective.
