It is freezing this morning 🥶🥶

This morning Harper wanted to show me something pretty she found.
This was in the chaos of getting ready for school so I was reluctant to drop everything to look at the pretty thing she wanted to show me.

She led me to the window and showed me the sun rising and asked me to stay with her and watch it for a bit.
I forgot how amazing things are through the eyes of little ones, listening to her trying to describe the colour and the pretty glow while everything around is just stopped for 5 minutes.

Children are amazing for making you stop and see the beauty that we so often overlook, that five minutes with Harper watching the sun rise was the perfect start to a busy Friday.

We even got to school early!

We have had a few questions about our mud loving bulb eating puppies.
We have four left from the litter and will be ready for their new homes this weekend.
As much as I love them I am very much looking forward to saying goodbye, except to the tri colour he my favourite ❤️

It’s happened, our last baby has finished daycare and started school and she is loving it!
Where did the time go 😭

I am so grateful to the ladies at Rotorua Community Creche for taking such good care of our little one, she misses you all!

Lucky I have thousands of spring bulbs and seedlings to distract me!

We are getting ready for spring in the next coming weeks.
Todays job is to clean and sort last years daffodils and ranunculus which should be in the ground already 😬

This dahlia grown by seed is looking like a winner.
The last 20 have all been white singles that drop their petals so quickly so this one was worth the wait 😍

That’s a wrap for our Summer/Autumn 2023 pick your own season.

Thank you to everyone that came up and supported us through a rough season with the weather, especially the ones who braved the wind and the rain.

Over the next few weeks we will be busy prepping for our spring crops to get in the ground.
Some of our seedlings have been sitting patiently in their trays and others are yet to grace us with their presence 🤞they germinate.

Autumn is my favourite season 🍂

It’s not too hot and it’s not too cold, the frosts haven’t quite set in and the fear of your jandals sticking to the road has passed.
It’s also the time of the year that nature starts to slow, reminding us all the importance of rest so we can work on growth in the coming seasons 🍁

Easter Saturday will be the last day we will be open for pick your own this season, it is a little earlier than we expected but that’s the joy of working with Mother Nature.
Retail bouquets will be available via the farm and Four Square Ngongotaha up to Mother’s Day.
Scheduled picks and bloom bars are also good to go 💐

These headscarves are so good and are made locally by an amazing lady.
They hold in place all day and are perfect for those messy hair days, I cannot recommend them enough!

After lots of positive feedback about these… there are some new ones on their way!

Let’s talk bloom bars 💐

Bloom bars are one of my favourite events we have at Full of Posies.

The groups are kept small creating the perfect creative space for flower enthusiasts.

To start the bloom bar off there is a cheese platter and a beverage followed by a tour of the flower farm.

You will then be set loose with a pair of secateurs to create your own unique arrangement.

Our focal flower for the month of April will be Dahlias so if you have dahlia fever this bloom bar is for you 🌸

I would like to introduce you to Viking.

I first met this lovely dahlia in Bunnings when she was just a wee tuber. Her picture didn’t wow me but she was reduced to clear for $2 and it was my first year farming, so I threw the remaining tubers in the trolley and went on my merry way. I was expecting an average dahlia that met the $2 price tag.
Boy was I wrong!

This, my friends, is the dahlia that I would choose over any other. She has an amazing vase life, is a prolific producer, faces just the right direction for a bouquet and is just the right form. To top it all off she is beautiful.

Sometimes being last on the shelf and undervalued has nothing to do with you, but the opinions of those who are hasty in their judgements and don’t look past the cover 🌸

Planning our dahlia beds is a heck of a job for an over thinker.
There are so many ways we could do it.
Last season we did it in order of the supplier so we could manage and track diseases.
This season we have done them in colour blocks except for the new trial tubers.

It’s made it a lot easier to identify mislabels like our little orange friend in the middle 🤔

Our flowers are loving the sun, after what seems like a stop and start season the flowers are showing their resilience.

We are counting down to our mums twilight pick on Friday night 💐

Tickets have sold out but we are looking at dates in March for more twilight picks.

We were very fortunate not to have substantial damage with the cyclone, so we will be able to open tomorrow.

Our hearts go out to everyone who has suffered damages and to all those in the flood zones.

This summer has seen some of the worst weather in the North Island which has had devastating consequences. We can only hope that this is the last of it 🤞
