We will be volunteering once again in this amazing event - Looking for volunteers that want to be involved 😃
With border closures a thing of the past (what a time to be alive...) we're stoked to say Haere Mai and welcome back international runners in droves in 2023!
Around 40% of runners at will be international runners - which is going to return that exciting international flavour to our event. From world-class elite runners to runners looking to explore trails on the other side of the world - we can't wait to meet you all and welcome you to our trails, show you our manaakitanga (hospitality) and show you what trail running in NZ is all about.
A few tips for those coming in from overseas 👇
👉 New Zealand customs is super strict, and as you'll be bringing in outdoors equipment, you'll need to declare it. This includes shoes and poles and anything else that may harbour dirt, bugs or other pests we don't want! Make sure they're clean, declare them, and you'll be on your way. Same goes for food - anything packaged like gels is fine, but don't even think about trying to bring any fruit...
👉 New Zealand is a long way away from everywhere. Long-haul travel can take it's toll on your body, as can jet lag, so make sure you take it easy when you arrive pre-race to let your body recover and prep for the big day.
👉 New Zealand roads aren't your typical highways or autobahns... it'll take longer than you think to get places, so allow the time, drive carefully and safely, and make it safe! This goes for the trip to Rotorua as well as during race day for support crew.
👉 Make the most of your trip! Explore the tourist spots, the stunning nature we have, meet the friendly locals and experience everything that makes NZ an amazing place to be. Then tell all your friends to come with you next year....
Safe travels and we'll see you in a few weeks!
