X-Site are proud to once again play their part in supporting the Auckland Marathon, which was run over the weekend on a beautiful Tāmaki Makaurau day.

With nearly 18,000 athletes involved, this was the most entries the event has had in it's 33 year history!

Congratulations to all athletes for getting out there, hitting the streets and smashing goals 💪

Meet the Team: Oka Muaimalae - Business Development Manager

Oka is our right-hand man leading the charge down at our Christchurch branch in the South Island. Get to know Oka below.

What’s your history/background before joining X-Site?
I have a broad background predominantly in logistics and customer service – prior to X-Site I worked with Carters Building Supplies as a Dispatch Coordinator and Sales Rep and prior to that I worked for two years in the shipping industry with Royal Wolf as a Sales Executive. I also lived in Hamilton for a few years whilst studying Tourism Business Management at Unitech.

What made you want to join the event industry?
Upon leaving school I was passionate about a career as either an Event Coordinator or Lawyer. After first establishing a career in logistics I saw the opportunity with X-Site come up and jumped at the chance to get involved in the event industry.

What does your role at X-Site involve?
My role largely focuses on Sales and Business Development but I will be exposed to all areas of the business from getting out on-site and helping the team setting up events to assisting with the running of the Christchurch branch.

What are the values that drive you?
Honesty, respect and teamwork - You can’t have a successful team or business without those things.

What are your hobbies / what do you do when not at work?
Our place has always been a central hub for family and friends, when I’m not hosting parties at work I do it at home! Family is extremely important to me, my partner and I have three young children so we try to do things with them as much as possible like spending time at Hanmer Springs over the summer. I’m also into my sports playing rugby in the winter and touch in the summer.

Check out the table lighting truss set up we did for this week's Pro Billiard Series - WPA World Championships held in Hamilton. 184 players are competing across 3 championships events this week, with finals held over the weekend!

The X-Site team recently attended HIRECON in Auckland, a conference run by Hire Industry Association of New Zealand (HIANZ), where we entered two teams into the Marquee Rigger Competition.

Four teams battled it out to see who was the fastest to rig and dismantle a Baytex marquee to the installation specifications and using the APEX training and best practice guidelines. Our North Island Team made up of Dan, Richard and Foster came out as the winners! Congratulations team! 😎

X-Site are proud to have been a part of the recent Maanawatia a Matariki event hosted by Hamilton City Council and held at Hamilton Lake Domain on 28 June. It was an epic turnout with over 20,000 attendees!

We provided a plastic pro trac which the Hamilton City Council team used as a path from the roadside to an an accessible zone, making it easier for wheelchair users to access the event.
