🎸 4 sleeps to go till the Taupō Summer Concert 2025 🎸

📅 Saturday 25 January
📍 Taupō Amphitheatre, Riverside Park

Thousands of music fans will be arriving for this year's stellar line-up - Cold Chisel, Icehouse, Bic Runga and Everclear.

There will be lots of traffic and music fans around so plan your trip!

🚫 Redoubt Street from Tongariro Street to Story Place is closed from 12pm Friday 24 January to 12am Saturday 25 January.

🛑 Tongariro Street from 6pm to 8pm Saturday 25 January will have a Stop-Go in place to help concert-goers get home safely.

🙋 If you’re going:

🚗 There are two car parks available for the Summer Concert! Spaces are limited so consider walking to the event.

🅿️ Tongariro North Domain - Northbound traffic should use this carpark with entry and exit via the northbound lane of Tongariro Street. There are several options you can take through the CBD (e.g. Ruapehu Street and Te Heuheu Street) to avoid the busy Spa Road roundabout area.

🅿️ Gates Park - Southbound traffic can access Gates Park car park north of the Control Gates Bridge or use street parking in the upper Spa Road area (Oruanui/Nukuhau/Runanga Streets) for easy access to Taupō Amphitheatre.

🙅 If you're not going:

Take the ETA and avoid the madness especially from 9am to 1pm when fans arrive and from 5pm when the concert finishes.

⚠️ New Year's Day Big Bang CANCELLED - unsafe to proceed ⚠️

That pesky wind has picked up again this afternoon and bought with it strong swells in the lake which means it's unsafe to proceed with the fireworks tonight.

We're so sorry to have to call off the show but with the fireworks to be launched from a barge on the lake, it's simply not safe to go ahead with the Bag Bang this evening.

While this isn't the update we were hoping for, we will now look at a suitable community event at a later date where we can use the fireworks.

🎆 Big Bang tonight with one spectacular fireworks display at 9.30pm 🎆

Happy New Year everyone! Get ready for an awesome start to 2025 with a spectacular Big Bang fireworks event at 9.30pm tonight, New Year's Day (Wednesday 1 January), at Tapuaeharuru Reserve on Roberts Street.

That right, we're combining the Mini Bang and Big Bang into one massive show! There will not be a separate fireworks display at midnight.

A reminder that no alcohol, smoking, va**ng, or dogs are allowed. Just bring your whānau and good vibes!

Thanks again to the Tūwharetoa Māori Trust Board, Lake Taupō Harbourmaster, Coastguard Lake Taupo and Fire and Emergency NZ for their knowledge and expertise, which help ensure the event is safe for our whenua (land), wai (water) and whānau.

While the wind and lake conditions are looking more promising for this evening, we'll keep a close eye on things and if it's unsafe to go ahead we'll get the word out by 7pm.

See you soon!

🎆 The Big Bang is postponed 24 hours and will now take place on 1 January 🎆

Unfortunately the weather is not playing ball today, with strong winds and heavy swells on the lake meaning it's unsafe to proceed with the fireworks tonight.

So get ready for a spectacular start to New Year's Day tomorrow with a Mini Bang fireworks event at 9.30pm to be followed by the Big Bang at midnight.

We're so sorry to have to delay the show but with the fireworks to be launched from a barge on the lake, it's simply not safe to go ahead this evening.
