Join us for an evening of kai and crafts to celebrate this epic asf exhibition and our community who keep showing up and supporting us!

For one last time we're taking over red square with our friend Mikael on the decks, as well as linocutting, patch making, jigsaw making, dinosaur bedazzling and some live painting action.

Please bring along a plate of kai to add to the hākari.

Disclaimer:
This will also be the last night of the pop up gallery and a statement to Tauranga City to recognize the authentic and heartwarming vibe we bring to the CBD.

This was a short term pop up, there is no possible way we can continue to afford this space and until we secure long term funding or a substantial amount to sustainably move forward, I'm not gonna bang my head against the grey walls of a lifeless city.

We're still going to be around probably doing pop ups here and there, and the studios are still running. Just need to figure out where to put our efforts and where (location wise) we are needed and appreciated the most.

If you have any words of encouragement or testimony to your experiences with us that we can use to support our cause, feel free to drop them below.

Join us and the ESCAPE Festival for an evening of thought-provoking discussions.

'Demystifying Land Back' is a conversation between Van Mei and two inspiring community activists Danielle Marks and Willow Kanara.

The panel will be discussing the meaning of the term 'Land Back' in an Aotearoa context, a popular decolonial phrase led by Indigenous activists and rōpū which has been vilified and treated with such fear and hostility by NZ settler society and current colonies. So what does 'Land Back' really mean for te iwi katoa and imagining restorative futures?

A well needed conversation for all, this will be an especially great opportunity for pākehā and tauiwi to get acquainted and gain deeper nuance on why Land Back is so important, with cross-cultural understandings

Our second panel of the evening is
'The Moko Movement'

Over the past few years, we have seen a powerful resurgence in moko. The choice to reconnect with this traditional artform has been a source of cultural empowerment for Māori. Julie Paama Pengelly is one of the first wāhine kai tā of this era. In this kōrero she speaks with Justine Murray about the re-emergence of moko and where it fits in the contemporary space for Māori.

It's a juicy night not to be missed

Our first Night Market was a massive success.
Heaps of people came through.
Vibes were 👌
Every stallholder sold more than one thing.
The soup, and pork and fried bread sliders made about $250 for Te Kōhanga Reo o Opopoti. Yeow.

Shout out to everyone who came along to tautoko. It means heaps having the community show up and egg us on to do more events.
We plan to be doing these once a month on the First Thursday of each month.
Stalls are limited. If ya keen DM to express your interest. Also accepting wānanga and musicians.

Ps. I'll take better photos next time. If ya wanna see what was there, hit up our market highlights on insta. .space
