A tip for photos with your loved ones: get your whole group photo first then flip your usual photo list upside down. Get photos with your groups of friends and colleagues then send them off to drinks/cocktails etc. Then the big photos of family eg all the aunts, uncles, cousins, and send them away to drinks. Finish with just the immediate families. You will love the quieter time with just your parents and siblings. Also, family tends to wait around but friends wander off in search of a drink while you’re doing photos!

It’s still my favourite “kiss at a wedding” photo. This marriage took place during a fishing trip north of Auckland. We fished, swam, changed into tidier clothes for the marriage, then jumped overboard for more swimming. On your wedding day, you do you. Get married the way YOU want.

These gorgeous people had an intimate wedding at my place then went off to have lunch with surprised friends who had no idea it was really a little wedding reception!

Another beautiful wedding I had the pleasure to be apart of in the celebrants back garden.

Such a beautiful ceremony watching these 2 tie the knot only giving their family a short amount of notice.

Debbie was the most incredible person to work with for our wedding. She was always there to answer any questions and put our minds at ease. She worked so hard to get us to the finish line. Her love for love was always shown and she took the time to really make our day special. Always offered many laughs, and she always had the right things to say.

40 years ago today we were married in a garden by a celebrant. In that time we have lived in at least 15 homes in 4 countries and visited around 30 countries in all. Apart from a total house fire we’ve lived lucky, fun lives, with a lot of hard work put into our teaching careers. Best highlights of all? 2 daughters and now their partners and our delicious grandsons. Ohhhh… and we still laugh often and like each other!

This is a great story. Donna and Stuart were married in the 1990’s but parted ways a few years later. Then in 2022 they met accidentally and fell in love all over again! Their wedding had a recycled theme- reusing the same bride and groom, same bridesmaid and best man, same wedding dress too! I guess I was part of the recycling too because I knew Donna at primary school and Teachers College then she found me again to be their celebrant.

Sometimes I get asked to marry people in the Rotorua Redwoods Forest. There’s a quiet hush in there that is hard to explain but I love it. Today I married a couple from Tahiti in the forest. What a way to celebrate your holiday in NZ!
