This will be a fun night!! Open to all Members, Partners, Families, Friends, Sailing School Participants & Families. We are hoping to get as many boats out as possible, big and small! All Divisions will be involved, and if you don't own a boat don't worry, send your name in to the office and we will find you a spot. Not keen on racing but would love to go out? That is fine as we will have a few launches cruising around the harbour, or maybe you just feel like heading straight to the club house where the bar will be open, Mount Brew Co have kindly donated a keg of lager, we will have the big screen going with Xmas movies for the kids along with some fun Xmas arts and crafts. Santa will make an appearance after dinner!!! If you would like any more information, to reserve a spot for dinner, crew on a boat or to register your boat to enter email [email protected] or call 07 578 5512

TYPBC ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE ALTEX WILL BE SPONSORING THE PRESTIGIOUS YACHTING GOLD CUP THIS RACING SEASON.

As the Altex Yacht & Boat Paint, Auckland to Tauranga Yacht Race, (A2T), has been postponed for a year, Altex, our generous A2T Gold Sponsors, have graciously agreed instead this season to sponsor the local TYPBC Gold Cup yacht race to start at 0700hrs on Saturday 23rd March 2024.
It will be known as the, “Altex Yacht and Boat Paint 2024 Gold Cup Yacht Race”.
This historic Gold Cup event has been competed for since 1921 and winners names on it represent a whos who in yacht racing in the early years and more recently by the cream of Tauranga yachties.
The course for the Gold Cup will start at 0700hrs from the TYPBC, or A Beacon if little or no wind, around Motiti Is to port, around Mayor Is to port, around Karewa Is to port, A Beacon to Starboard, and finish at the TYPBC or at A Beacon if little or no wind, to be decided at the prerace briefing. There may be waypoints, “Marks of the Course”, introduced to keep competitors away from charted shoals.
The intention is to race all day using the TYPBC outside Club Handicaps on a course with a reasonable degree of difficulty, making the winner a worthy recipient of the famous Gold Cup.
A Notice of Race, (NOR), will be prepared and distributed in due course followed in time by Sailing Instructions, (SI), and all yachts who are members of Yacht Clubs affiliated to YNZ who meet the safety standard, Cat 4 + Amendments as listed on the TYPBC Keeler Website, and have a cat 4 + amendments certificate of inspection, signed by a TYPBC nominated Official, or a current YNZ Cat 3, 2 or 1 certificate, pay their entry fee and comply with the conditions listed in the NOR & SI, will be able to enter. The TYPBC Keeler Committee reserves the right to issue TYPBC outside handicaps to entering yachts who do not currently have one.
Altex sponsorship will enable the podium finishers on TYPBC outside Handicap to win very generous prizes so a big thank you goes out to Abbie Clark & Ricky Collins from the Altex Sales, Promotions and Sponsorship team for making it all possible.
Please contact Altex if you are considering any Yacht or Launch repaint work and ask them for a quote. You will be pleasantly surprised.
For any further information on the Gold Cup race, please contact;
Roger Rushton.

We are still in need of Volunteers to fill some of the below roles. If you can help please let us know :)

City-to-Surf

TYPBC club and manpower have become a major factor in the success of the annual City-to-Surf fun run, which this year, will be run on Sunday, November 5. Our contribution is offering the club as the registration centre and 33 volunteers to assist at various times between 6:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. As well as the club being paid to do so, it is also a great opportunity to raise the club's profile. Our commitment is as follows:

Registration: 6:30 am to 10:30 am (12 people)
Course Marshals: 9:00 am to 12:30 (19 people)
Tail end walking marshal (comes in behind the last person): 11:00 – 1:30 (1 person)
Tail end vehicle (collect Marshal gear) : 11:15 – 1:30 (1 person)

A detailed allocation of resources by course location is attached.

All helpers must be 16+ years. Course marshals would need to attend an 8:00 a.m. briefing at the club.

To allow for possible late return of Marshals, centreboard racing will start 1 hour later than normal with a briefing at 1:30 and race start time 2:15 - 2:30.

Please let the office know if you would like to help, and we will be back to you with more details closer to the event.

Hi all,
The long awaited door swipe system is finally complete. All the old cards will no longer work, so you will need to come into the office and pick a new one up. There is a cost to these new cards of $20, this is refundable if the cards are returned in good condition.
Thanks
Jo
