Love my job🥰
So proud of you Tipene❤ Makes me cry.
Short snippet of Tipene's korero behind this art peice.
His Màmà reached out to us last year for a stall at the Matariki Market, he couldn't even look at me. Check him out now, talking, interviews, me dragging him everywhere to meet new people, photos, got up and did a korero at our Launch night. Happy tears!
“Takiwatanga” is the Maori word for autism and it means “In their own time and space”.
Tipene Fitzell is a 15 year Takiwatanga artist from Ngati Uenukukõpako /Ngai Tukairangi and Ngati Ngararanui.
Tipene was born considering, observing, questioning. A young man whose creative mind and ability to think deeply and wisely is a wonder to behold.
This is the gift of takiwātanga.
Vibrancy and new ways of experiencing and understanding life.
Part of takiwātanga is the ability to hold quiet space for long periods of time. Tipene reminds us that seeds grow with no sound but Rakau (trees) fall with great noise.
The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.
Can't wait to see where your journey takes you, we will be behind you cheering you on all the way xx
