We don’t fit the whole family in the gig like we used to in our carriage but we still went for a little family Christmas outing today.

We had a very joyful third Sunday of Advent. Duke accompanied Santa and his elf to pony club in the morning taking part in lots of different activities and then gave a gig ride to a young visitor from Ireland in the afternoon.

Love the light and back ground of this photo of the boys at a job a few weeks ago. First time together as a pair and first big outing ever for Snape and they did so well.

Happy St Nicholas Day. In Germany, where I come from, this day is celebrated by children putting their boots outside and hoping for little treats from St Nicholas. The naughty ones get coal. What would be in your boots today? 🙂
I reckon Snape would find a very big carrot.

One of the few occasions our boys are all rugged up, the evening before a job the next day. Big day ahead for them and a new experience for all of us.

And since I’ve had a few inquiries recently: yes we offer local drives in our gig, but it is only suitable for a single passenger.
We also still travel to special events like weddings within the Waikato.

This weekend, horse riders across Aotearoa will be taking to the roads to create and raise awareness around their vulnerability on the road.

Organised by Pass Wide and Slow New Zealand close to 50 awareness rides are planned over 14-15 September to promote the important messages and educate drivers around the following tips ⤵️

↔️ 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗹𝗼𝘄: Give at least 2 metres space and slow down as you approach or pass.
⛔ 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗗𝗼 𝗡𝗼𝘁: Toot, shout, rev your engine as you pass or drive away.
✋ 𝗥𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹: Take notice and follow the riders hand signals.
🛻 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴: Take extra care when towing, make sure nothing is flapping or making noise as this can scare the horse.
