DIY ❤️

Many brides this season are going with the DIY flower options. Some doing the entire thing while others just doing diy tables and getting a florist on board for the rest. This beautiful photo was sent to me from one of our lovely brides over the weekend, how stunning do these bud vases look 👌

It's been busy around here with weddings, bridal workshops, bulk florist orders and of course our preserved bouquet orders but do you think I remember to take photos for socials 🙉 seriously my weakness

Vase life and flower 💚 A little bit like chocolate, some last a while and others disappear quicker than you hope🙊

Here are some tips to getting the most out of your flowers.

- Flowers are a fresh product so they need fresh clean water just as we do, if the water doesn’t look like you would drink it then you need to change it and clean the vase at the same time. Personally I give my flowers fresh water every day.

- We don’t love standing in direct sunshine and heat for a long period of time and your flowers are the same. The perfect spot in your house is away from direct sunlight and where it’s not ridiculously hot.

- Many people will put flowers right under the heat pump which will dry them out. Think about where in your home is a spot that you will be able to enjoy them and give them the best vase life.

- If your flowers have been out of water for a long period of time getting from A - B then give them a snip, the stem will start to seal if left without water for to long and then the water is unable to get into the stem.

- Did you know that you should never put your flowers above your fruit bowl? The fruit releases gases that will kill your flowers.

- Different flowers have different vase life’s, something like a rose or poppy for example only has 5 - 7 day vase life as apose to a dianthus or lisianthus that can last 3+ weeks. If you notice some of your blooms looking a little sad just pull those ones out so you can enjoy the rest.

You can expect anywhere from 1 - 3 weeks out of fresh flowers and a lifetime out of dried flowers.
Wedding and event flowers are usually out in the hot sun so generally are a one day flower but often people have them for much longer.

Hope this is helpful to ensure you get the best out of your beautiful blooms.

Exciting exciting exciting

Some of you will have noticed no flowers at Serenda the last couple of weeks…. Unfortunately summer is proving to hot for our beautiful blooms so we will only be able to supply fresh flowers to Serenda in the cooler seasons. We will however start stocking Serenda (coffee van on Albert Park Drive, Te Awamutu) with dried flowers so you have a nice and handy spot to stop and grab those gifts.

Mane and co hair salon on Downes Street, Te Awamutu will also be getting a restock of a mix of dried flowers with the occasion fresh bunch.

And exciting news… Kids collection just down from Heathcotes on the Main Street of Te Awamutu will be stocking both fresh and dried bunches starting today.

Yes you can certainly still phone, text, message for flowers to be made to order that can be collected from the flower farm on Kakepuku Road, Te Awamutu.

Christmas Day flowers are starting to book up so if you would love a special arrangement for Christmas please let me know. We will have a few options this Christmas…
• “fruit salad” - a mix of brights
• “ambrosia” - pink pastels and whites
• “traditional” - green and white

Flowers can be made to order to suit your budget starting at $25 or you can order your florals in a large vase to gift with the flowers ($80 centrepiece statement)

Dates are pretty full for weddings for this season but we do have a few openings.

I have always had a thing for flowers on mass (one flower only bunches) but last night when my 3 year old son was walking carrying big bunches of this matricaria to me after hubby had cut it, my goodness it brought a new love of flowers on mass😍🥹 definitely wished I’d had my phone on me to snap that moment but for now I just have to reimagine it with this photo.

Been an exciting week as we finally got our hands on a building to set up as a floral studio for me 💛 was a big job for hubby and his dad to get it from A - B then help of some great friends with tractors to get it into a very tight space next to the vege patch and tunnel house. Still plenty of work to get it painted and setup which I won’t be able to do till this leg is working but exciting to have it there and waiting.

On other news, it’s one month today since I snapped my shin bone and fibia. I had the all clear from physio today to slowly start putting some weight on it which is exciting as I’m certainly eager to get back into life as normal. Although I’m on hold for now that doesn’t mean the flowers are on hold, they are definitely growing at pace🙈.
We have loads of flowers and although the team are still getting them cut and out to our florists, we have no events with the situation at hand so any orders are much appreciated to reduce any of these stunning blooms been wasted. We have the team cutting tonight and in the morning so if you would love some fresh flowers for the weekend flick me a message or head down to Serenda at Albert Park Drive for grab and go bunches 🧡

Each season I direct sow my zinnias which I did the week before my injury. The frustration is real not been able to sneak out and check on their progress😣🤦‍♀️ meanwhile the rest of these blooms are all starting to flower at the moment and boy of boy do they look amazing especially the roses 🧡

Beyond grateful for this amazing organisation. If you have any spare funds to donate to an incredible cause I definitely recommend thinking about the choppers. You never know when you or someone you love may be in need of their help and honestly they are the most incredible kind people you will come across.

Home now and hubby, kids, my bestie and friends have been keeping the flower farm in check while I’m out of action so flowers are back in the doors of our florists and back at Serenda.
If you are after any flowers as of next week please let us know, just need 24 hours notice to get the team onto it 💛 pickup from the flower farm.

From picking flowers to held up in a hospital bed, it’s been a bloody rough week to say the least 😭 if you heard/saw the rescue chopper over Kakepuku last Monday it was me.

Flowers are on hold for a couple of weeks till I get sorted but we are still open for florist wholesale flowers just need a few days notice for hubby to cut and condition etc.

Once I’m back home and have some systems in place we will have flowers back at Serenda
And be open for all occasion bouquets by pre order. I’m super lucky to have amazing support so hopefully the season will go as planned. If you have booked a wedding, event or preserved flowers with us please rest assure we are still good to go and have steps in place to ensure everything is perfect as always 💛
