Pro Gardening tip 👇
✨ Marry someone who supports your crazy ideas and who also owns a civil business ✨
Redesigning my garden beds has been something I’ve been dreaming about for a long time! My old garden beds drove me crazy for lots of different reasons but for the most part they were just impractical to work in.
Originally when we first moved to our country property they were lovely diagonal rows of lavender plants. But sadly a combination of being time poor with little kids, invassive weeds and pesty bunnies, the lavender mostly all died.
This has been a mammoth task and even though I’ve had my husband’s help and the bonus of his machinery, this task has taken a long time. It didn’t help that a nasty winter flu hit our family the day we started. I cannot wait to be filling buckets filled with fresh blooms next Summer!
Next on the winter jobs:
💧 Irrigation
🌸 Soil prep
🌱 Sowing seeds

Oh Hello! 👋 It’s been a while.. did you miss me? I have some exciting news for you! This Summer I’ll be returning to flowers, but with a slight twist…After planting a couple of Dahlias on my rural property a few years back, this sparked a new found passion for growing. I'm thrilled to share that next Summer, I'll be cultivating some of my own blooms from my home in Te Horo, Kāpiti. By combining these with other locally sourced treasures, I aim to create eco-friendly, sustainable luxury weddings and offer gift bouquets, delivered a couple times a week across Kāpiti and down to my old stomping grounds in Wellington. Since closing my shop in Ngaio, I've welcomed a beautiful son, Mac, to our family. Balancing motherhood with my career is a constantly evolving journey that requires flexibility. While I cherish being a mum, my passion for creating and working with flowers has always remained strong. I've spent time finding ways to harmonise my roles, which is why working from home will help me achieve a better balance. Future plans also include workshops in my garden but the details are still in the works… baby steps right?! 😅 So follow along to watch me grow 🌱 Check out our new website. www.melissajane.co.nz
