This year, winter hit with a BANG. It was Autumn for a month and a bit and than BANG winter!!
That's how I feel spring has come on too here. It was winter only 3 weeks ago and I was saying at work in town "ahh this is lovely I get to enjoy at least 3 weeks of spring in town before we start spring at home" ..... Well, that comment bit me in the bum like the bees in my garden right now!!
We are so full on in spring here I didn't even get to do my usual countdown!!! 😳
We've been so busy still doing winter jobs, now we're running trying to catch up the spring jobs. In the 20 odd years I've been here - this is the fastest change to spring I've witnessed I'm sure!
"Spring spam" photos will come when I get on top of much needed spring jobs!!! 🤣🤦💜💚

Had the best day in my garden today!! (thanks to the good weather!!) When you find yourself working for "a job" more than you expected in life, but then loving your job, sometimes it's hard to find that all important BALANCE!! (something, people in my life have tried to get me to understand for over 20 years now😏) Today, after weeks - I found myself on the property alone. Ahh the all precious ALONE!!! 😏
I got into the hideous job of our felled trees, I got the crappy jobs of weeding done, and then I got into my 'wizard of oz' part of the garden and was able to have so much fun again..it reminded me of a time I use to get this"garden hit" daily....now with a full time job it's few and far between... But WOW(especially during hybernation season 😏😉)
What a kick I got out of my" day off" 😉

Shout out to Happy Gecko Arborist & Tree Specialist for all his awesome work in the last few weeks, including today!!!
It is crazy how much he has taken out of our trees that needed it, but when you look up (in the garden area) you can't see where he's been!!
He's done such a great job and gets excited at challenges!! These pics are of today's work in our carpark. My third picture - he felled 2 trees at once (one half rotten as you can see in the picture). He had to angle the fall quite literally at the fence post to avoid my new trees (that you can't see). We said, we'd rather lose the post over the trees... Well, he missed both!!!! When I laughed at the fact he did it, he shrugged and said with a smile "I love a challenge".
Great guy.
Highly HIGHLY recommend Joseph!!.... Though if he could clean up our mess at the click of his fingers I'd rate him even higher 😂😂😉😉💜💚

Last year I got a hedge trimmer to come in and trim the pine up our driveway. They asked if I'd like my konifer hedges done, the ones I've a always attacked every year since they've matured... I said "oh hell yes" (That'll be a load off) ...since then however, (actually just this weekend) I've realised I could maybe get away with that every other year... But the odd year I really have to just spend the time with my hand cutters and give the hedge a "proper loper!" machines just don't.. Cut it 😏
Hubby said "urgh your just making mess." to me it's messy if the hedges aren't pruned 🤷

It's been stupid busy in life recently. We've now finished up with reception options here at Jakar gardens as hubby and I both working full time seperate hours away from the garden. Someone always here "working" in the garden but it's just proven too much for receptions now. We're still doing ceremonies and enjoying them, but no longer can put the time and effort into receptions that take up our few days off and our time away from our kids. We've finally found a balance 😊
I'm still not surprised if I hear someone say "gosh we've never heard of you till so and so talked about you".
We don't want to advertise anymore.
I believe anyway, that word of mouth is by far the best form of advertising and second of all I still get a kick out of being able to say to someone who's never been here... "well what a pleasant surprise for you then" 😂 (that saying is thanks to my long ago bestie who started that...😉😍 I'll never take credit for that cos it was totally you! 😉😊💜💚)

We had another gorgeous couple say their " I dos" on Friday and they had me in tears at the beginning, in the middle and at the end!
The bride was waiting for her que in the music to walk in and as she waited, she was swaying, eyes closed, and singing along to her walk in song. I've NEVER seen a bride so.... settled and calm!!! I'll always appreciate how privileged I was to see that!!!
They got married in a spot in the garden we've never had a ceremony at before. I love that!!!
Though, not fussed I told them to watch for the uneven ground so they don't roll their ankle and I go and do just that exactly where I warned! 🤦🤦🤦
Hubby came to the rescue and held the fort while I iced and indeed it seemed like all had a great day 😊💜💚
I will forever laugh at the irony of my ankle roll on your day J and D!!!! Thank you for choosing us!!! 😍😍😍😍💜💚💜💚

We enjoyed hosting A BEAUTIFUL couple today for their ceremony!! Plus it was such a joy to work with a celebrant I've never worked with before too!
Having cleaned up from today, now we're prepping for next weeks wedding.
There's always prep - no matter what. Depending on the season and what the weather presents us with/what the garden challenges us with, there is ALWAYS that prep.
I can respect when people ask us "how much for just an hour" or "how much for just 20 people". Its not that simple.
Our world is very different to such a question. To us, 20 people for 1 hour is the same work as 120 people for 3 hours.
We still have the maintenance of the garden to uphold for hosting and photos, the time that it takes for set up and clean up, the toilets to empty and clean... The list goes on.
Tonight's irrigation took an hour to set back up after being packed up and hidden for today's wedding.

Gosh. Another feature in the garden I've moved recently... Apprehensive in doing so, as where she was - was so fitting... But when finally deciding on a change, just realizing how perfect the move fits....... Kind of makes me think... - "Duh 🤦why didn't I see that in the first place" 😏
This feature is suppose to represent me when I'm gone - as the "ghost woman" in the garden making sure all is as it should be 😂😂🤣🤣 - she probably won't make it till I'm dead and if she does she'll get biffed upon my death but the idea is amusing to me in the interim!! 😊💜💚

I just never found a great place in the garden.. Turns out, right outside my kitchen window and in my veggie garden is just right 😊💜💚💜💚

Walking round tonight appreciating the garden while the birds are loud. It's funny how even though I live here, sometimes I can look at something in the garden and have a sense like what we feel when we see someone's kids after a long period of time..... "wow when did you get so big"!!😳
This rose, I moved only a couple of years ago and literally just "shoved" it there because I didn't know what to do with it and didn't want to throw it out... I'm not a huge fan of roses myself, there's other plants that I would personally rank above them, but man oh man did I do right here!!! This baby is happily showing off - Aaaaaand with no maintenance other than deheading which is unusual for a rose!!! I'll take this one as a win!!! 💜💚💜💚

Hubby and I are terrible at appreciating the garden while it's uncovered for functions!! We uncover and prepare and clean. This takes a good hour. As soon as a wedding or function is over, we quickly cover and put away to protect our features and go to the next job... Our girls are demanding our attention... (Actually only dad's attention cos they're their dads daughters but still 😏🙄)
There was this feature from the weekend I didn't "put away" because I still wanted to enjoy.... The sound of the running water is a great way to unwind!!!!

Just chilling out after a PERFECT wedding today!! I couldn't get over how polite everyone was!! Beautiful bunch of people and then there was the bride and groom 😍😍😍😍💜💚 talked about it with the photographer with both of us saying how lucky we are to have them!!!

For the last couple of weeks at dawn and dusk with little to no wind, our entire 4acre property smells of her 😍😍😍😍
Much of them are past their point now with a couple of buds are still to open.... But we're due for a frost tonight 😭so I've pulled up a chair and I'm sniffing this baby in cos it'll be 365 before I get her again!!! 😞

Two of my favorites to work with for a wedding!!! I know Michelle has her back to this photo because she's too busy working but she's included in this appreciation!! The other is Pip Giles, the celebrant who I just ADORE! She takes the piss out of me and my 'fastidiousness' but she totally let's me do my job my way, and with respect ☺️ we laugh together how she gets told off (by me!) for trying to help 😉 She's finishing up with weddings now and I'm going to miss her hugely!! She is always open, with big warm smiles and so very accepting to everyone's personalities and ideas 😍💜💚💜💚 I'll miss you Pip!!!! 😘 I loved being able to celebrate such a cool couple with you today as one of your lasts!!! So much love lady!
