In today's bitesized burlesque history we take a look at Lydia Thompson!

Shockingly known as the first woman to wear tights on stage in 19th Century Britain, (paving the way for str1pt3ase artists down the line - thanks Lydia!) she was a talented actor, satirist & dancer.

In 1868 she took her burlesque troupe 'The British Blondes' and introduced their version of Victorian burlesque to New York.

"A curious combination of comedy, parody, satire, improvisation, song and dance, variety acts, cross-dressing, extravagant stage effects, risqué jokes and saucy costumes – while familiar enough to British audiences, took New York by storm"

The scandal it caused resulted in rocketing ticket sales and a six month tour was extended to six years!

- Doris Anna May (DAM) the matriarchal owner of the club. Classy and sophisticated she is the ultimate lady.
- Silver Pheonix, Nixy to her friends. A well-seasoned temptress with a passion for change. She’s as fiery as a hot flush and as unpredictable as her hormones.
- Tipsy Havoc - Beware of Tipsy Havoc the ultimate party girl. Fun and flirty after just one drink, she will take you on a racy adventure that never ends.
- Ruby Redcase our Vintage V***n. Watch out for this femme fatal, she’s a saucy minx with a wicked sense of humour.
- Old GladASS our curvy cleaning lady. She’s been around so long, she’s heard it all, seen it all and had to clean it all up.
- Paparazzi the dame behind the camera. This broad has a keen eye and it has to be said she’s also easy on the eye.
Each visit to the Salon Risqué is a unique experience with an original Curve’s story to discover and a new diverse cast of guest performers to be captivated by.
