Food forest update! Check out our latest stories for some updates on this little ecosystem humming away in our backyard. We are so humbled at what nature can do in such little time. This food forest was designed in May and June last year, when I broke my ribs. And then planted end of July, with the help of our amazing working bee, one of our favourite activities with our friends. The working bee also cleared the area exactly one year before this... It was over head height with weeds and rampant impatiens that took over and smothered everything. Now look! We ate our first mandarin today, and we've also had pepinos, almonds, tamarillos, lemons, limes, plus all the usual veges... Potatoes, Bok Choy, cauliflower, spinach, etc etc. It' always been a dream of mine and it's exciting to see the progress. So much to learn too!

Here we go! Our web site is LIVE. You are now able to have a look in our CROP Pop Dahlia Shop and see what's on offer. It's window shopping at the moment, folks! On Thursday at 7.30pm, we will be launching our dahlia tuber sale where you will be able to buy the tubers. But you will need to be quick! We will put a post up tomorrow about some tips for that sale. Can I please just take a moment to thank the utterly amazing wahine Tara for making this web site? Utterly selfless with her time, amazingly capable with her skill. We all know how hard it is running another career alongside a cut flower business. This gal has got what it takes! I have so loved the whole process working with such a super star legend-ess. We can't wait for you to see the rest of the site when it goes live next month. Yay!

Hey everyone, looks like the scammers want to be a part of the action too! Be careful of the fake profile pretending to be CROP, as well as any direct messages saying you've won stuff. Remember: I will be announcing the winner across Instagram and Facebook at 10am on Thursday, asking that person to message CROP. To make it easier to see the real CROP, I've changed my profile pic to this! Isn't she a beauty!!!!! Have a beautiful day x

UPDATE: The winner has been picked! Well done to Nicole at Real You! You can watch the winner being selected in a later post on Facebook and Instagram. Please note that scammers continue to try and catch everyone out on Facebook so please don't pay attention. Happy dahlia-ing!

It's time for free stuff! To kick off our Big CROP-POP Dahlia Sale this Thursday 20th at 7.30pm, we are naturally having....drumroll... a tuber giveaway! We won't tell you what you should have though! One lucky winner will get to choose 5 tubers of their choice from our collection (only one per variety).

To enter, like this post, and comment below by tagging a dahlia lover! Each comment with a tag is an entry.

We will throw in two surprise tubers too if you share this competition on your Stories, so that's 7 tubers in total, but no pressure 😜

We will announce the winner on Thursday morning at 10am.

Our web site will go live tomorrow, keep those eyes peeled, folks! You'll be able to see what tubers are on offer. The actual sale will happen 7.30pm on Thurs 20th June.

Modelling in this pic is Wine Eyed Jill..she is ginormous. Not all tubers are this size, some of the smallest tubers produce the mightiest plants. Nothing wrong with being little, Nicky says... 😜

Go, go, go!

Ta daaaaaaaa! We have made Mother's Day! We have limped to the finishing line 🤣 Thank you Mama Nature for keeping us going. I'm so proud of every little flower that gets plucked from her slumber and thrust into our florists' hands, to be made centrestage in someone's day! What a life! Here we all are, gathered around the water tank. And why not? Water is our life. Good luck to all CROP's wonderful and loyal clients, most who are mamas too, we wish you lots of luck this weekend. Thanks for your amazing support this season, as always. Sorry I haven't had enough to supply beyond Raglan, just wait until those proteas and leucodendrons are humming! X

"The Petalheads". I'm so happy to be able to surround myself with epic humans who make life so fun and rewarding. And so grateful to our bodies that do so much for us in this world. I think about how I made my body stretch and stretch as a six year old ballet girl, trying to get my feet to touch my bun at the back of my head. Or the gruelling mountain biking for 10 days over 3 mountain passes over 5000m in my 30's. Or how my belly grew and grew, putting weight on my hips and straining all my muscles and joints, until I was hobbling around in my last pregnancy. So many examples. Thank you, body! I see you. Thank you, wahines! I am with you.

What a haul! I love my Best in Bloom box regulars. People think shipping flowers is impersonal but I have a deep connection with my Bloom Box clients and I love thinking about what to surprise them with every week. Thank you for your continuous support...you know who you are! ❤️ I am so grateful to be harvesting like this in April. Things are starting to slow down now and I'm okay with that too. What a season! We have had so many highs and lows, so many things going on too, from broken ribs to deep family losses and a whole lot of stuff inbetween. I'm ready for the spa bath!

Meet Layla! She's my niece and I miss her madly. I love how she's nonchalantly holding my leg here. My phone just reminded me of this moment, almost exactly a year ago. I'm waiting patiently for these Chrysanthemums to bloom again this year, but I'm not expecting such a bumper crop again for Mother's Day, which is later this year than last year. Let's see. I do love a surprise! I'll have to try and recreate this look with one of my boys, if so!

Dahlias, dahlias, dahlias.... Cutting, conditioning, photographing, labelling... They have kept me preoccupied and sane and I thank them for this. It's been a tough few weeks for our little whanau. It's a real fear for me about a parent dying and my husband is now going through this. It's been heartbreaking 💔 No one can quite prepare you hey. I know there is the whole circle of life thing but it's hard to think like that at times. So we immerse ourselves in flowers and I'm so grateful for the mindfulness they bring. Kia Kaha to everyone going through tough times. Here's a little bouquet of Linda's Baby (I think!) from . Beautiful quality. She's a keeper.

Three beings I don't know what I'd do without. My gorgeous folks are here pre Valentine's and have been such a fantastic help. It's our son's 8th birthday tomorrow (just before one of my busiest weeks!) and they have been wonderful at chipping in with last minute present buying, wrapping, delivering flowers, picking up boxes and just keeping me laughing. Best folks ever. And then there's Lulabelle. She just instinctively knows when to come hunt me out and entice me into a game of tag just when I feel like I might keel over. I love you three to the moon and back. And look at the colours there! Yessssss!

Boom, there she is! The gerberas that don't look like gerberas have arrived. But I reckon these gals are on their last legs. The bed isn't pumping as much as it has in the past so her days are numbered. These specific gerbera plants have done three amazing seasons and now it's time to give them a last moment before I decide to put something else in there. It will probably be more gerbera plants! Thank you, ladies, for your super long stems, beautiful eye catching colours and ability to keep producing long after everything else has given up. We have definitely proven that you can grow quality, straight, tall gerberas without all the plastic shenanigans you always see them in!

Amaranth for the win! I am loving these beautiful jewel tones and it's the perfect January crop. Sales are generally slower post Christmas and January is always a quiet start to the summer flowering season. I'm not complaining. I think it's awesome to ease your way in, and also to be supported by crops such as these that can stay in the field for absolute ages. On that note, it's a good time to go on a whanau holiday! So we will be doing that and getting some good beach action in. I've got a few more things to share whilst we are away, as CROP's florists like to come and harvest when I'm out. Win/ win for everyone! Yay for holidays!

La la la la larkspur! She just keeps coming and coming. The whites have done their last dash in all this damp weather but we don't care.... more space for the amazing colours popping now! This week was brights, but next week, we are moving to a softer palette of mauves, dusty lavender and blushed blush, or whatever the colour is. Did you know the Pantone Colour of the Year in 2022 was "Very Peri", basically a blueish/purplish colour that is still very popular in florals? This year's colour is..... Drum roll..... Peach Fuzz, a bit like my short asters, but more on that later. For now, it's all about Madame Larkspur and her Merry Gang of Maidens. Let us celebrate her generosity in CROP this year. It makes my head dizzy to think just how much she has produced for us in a 8m bed! X

Ahhhhhh, our workshop, just how I love it! Overflowing with flowers, my little babies centre stage, waiting to be sent to their new homes. Bloom boxes, here we go! It always humbles me what comes out of the garden in a day. Forever grateful.

So enjoying the stillness of the evenings and the song of the birds. I'm liking the gentler pace this season so far. I planted everything later because I had broken my ribs, and now I'm so grateful I did that! Everything happens for the best, my Momsy always says.

If you ever fancied waking up to this lovely view, come stay in our AirBnb accommodation. It's an old pottery studio that we have restored and it's a serene and tranquil rural spot, if you ignore Lula's mad barking upon arrival!! We are very happy to say that we've just been awarded a "Guest Favourite" rating. Only 2 million homes worldwide have this. Sounds like a lot, but think they have like 7 million on their books all over the world, so we're quite chuffed with our hosting skills 🤣 Hope our mates over at note our clearly awesome cleaning skills too.
