Uniform and kit for Division 1/2/3, and Youth Grades:

Player owned items:
- Their own white cricket pants
- We suggest you purchase an abdominal guard/box for your player to use (you can also purchase specific cricket underwear, or wear double underwear to secure the guard).
- Although kit is provided, a lot of players choose to use their own gear as may prefer their own bat, helmet etc.

Provided by club:
- Playing shirt (to be returned at end of the season)
- There will be a team kit, which will provide the team with all they need to play (bats, helmets, pads etc.) (their own may be preferred - as above).

Please have a chat to your player about respect and care for the Club kit. If they picked it out of the team kit bag - put it back into the kit bag etc. A lot of it is lost during the season from being put into individual player bags, or getting mixed up with opposing teams. Cheers.

At The Joy Farmer the focus is on shrubs, perennials and bulbs, with a small smattering of annuals that I love.

I have been lucky to be able to utilise established plantings in my family’s homestead garden in this start up phase to compliment my small cutting patch as I only began growing last season and have kept my growing area very tight while I am still learning to avoid getting overwhelmed. I also have limited time as this stage so TJF is still my side hustle and I don’t have luxury of living on site which has major limitations!!

I am drawn to garden flowers that are slightly wild in nature and bring texture and movement to an arrangement. I am a lover of all things white but as the season progressed so did my love of flowers in all of the shades. So this season I will be growing more of the varieties pictured with some new finds.

I am all about growing flowers that thrive in our local environment and love discovering new varieties that grow and cut well. So if you have suggestion of what you would love to see grown please get in touch.

Hello, my name is Sarah from . I was born and breed here in the Upper Clutha and I am growing on my family’s high country sheep and beef farm at the bottom of the Lindis Valley in Tarras, Central Otago.

I have roamed between rural and urban life over the years. I was a city suit before committing career su***de as my collogues kindly informed me to return home to my rural roots and red bands, which you would now have to fight me for!!

I am the novice grower in our collective and have huge admiration for my fellow farmers and who have been nothing but supportive and generous with their time and knowledge. So I am really exciting to be teaming up with them to bring local flowers to our community.

I live in Wanaka with my family, you will spot the four year old “florist” and the travelling circus cat Pixie on my feed occasionally, but very rarely me.

I hate attention and cameras so I had to dig deep to even find a photo for this intro. This is rare snap one fo my mother’s friends took when I join them as the sole youngy on a trip to (FYI highly recommend).

I wasn’t a gardener before varying down this path, so I have lots to learn. I did however grown up around family who all grew or gardened and I am happiest outdoors, so it is probably come as no surprise that I have discovered I really love this flowery world I have ventured into. Over the week I will tell you a little more about this adventure!

I think anyone who knows me knows how excited I get when talking about growing flowers in particular dahlias. From a flower I used to hate when I first entered floristry nearly 25 years ago it is now a bloom I adore. I’m so excited to see them bloom this season. With a plan to put in 3000 plants this summer and nearly 200 varieties there will be a mass of colour in our garden from December through to April.
We are also increasing our other varieties of seasonal blooms and will have a big mix of annuals going in for the summer. Our climate in central Otago seems to work well for a lot of what we grow but we do have a shorter season, with the construction of tunnel houses we are hoping to extend our growing season for a few varieties of flowers. We can not wait for things to get flowering this season and to supply our amazing local florists with our beautiful blooms. 🌸🌸🌸🌸

A bit more about me. I am one of those lucky people is earning a living doing what I love. It’s has taken a while to to get where we are here but has always been a dream to grow flowers to use in my floristry business, now I think the growing has taken over the floristry, for now anyway. I still love creating with our blooms and get a thrill delivering flowers so that am sure will never end.
I have my amazing partner Andy who does the heavy lifting and construction, can’t wait to see what he does over the next few months as our garden expands. Our 20 year old daughter is studying art design in Dunedin, miss her amazing creative eye sometimes. And can not forget our fur children, those who have met them know how spoilt they are (think they are our replacement kids!) they are the best company in the garden so long as they aren’t digging holes or eating dahlia tubers!

Thanks Vera from for kicking off the introductions last week.

So I’m Jen from we are just along the road from Vera. I come from a floristry background with nearly 25 years in the industry with a focus on weddings and events. My start into flower farming began when we were lucky enough to purchase our property outside of Wanaka. I started with Dahlias and these have stayed a firm favourite and am delving into hybridisation of these. This coming season will see a number of new flowers available from our cutting gardens. I’m very passionate about locally and sustainably grown blooms and sourcing for my floral work as much from all our amazing flower farmers as possible.

Our flowers are grown the old fashioned way, by hand in open fields from curated and often hard to find seeds, cuttings and plants.

We grow garden blooms full of character and movement that often bring nostalgia of yesteryears. We hope you will love them as much as we do.

Our flowers are grown with a lot of love and consideration for our people, land and environment.

We love dirt, critters, bees and birds they all play an important part in growing our blooms. Soil and its residents are the engine room of our businesses, so it is vital we look after them.

Our flowers are grown outdoors at the mercy of nature and its seasons.

It is dirty, harsh and labour intensive work, but the outcome is beautiful.

Our blooms may not be perfect and straight, they possibly will be wiggly and wild, full of movement and character reflecting the alpine environment in which they are grown.
