Thorns & Aces is entirely inspired by fantasy and otherworldly, whimsical aesthetics- so it’s my goal to bring a little bit of that magic to everyday life! I have unique wearable accessories for the bolder of heart, or functional (but still fun) Knick knacks for the more practical folks.

We are such big fans of Thorns work - we can't wait to have them back at Ratbag!

Thorn Richards is a local jeweller, artist and tutor based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. They work with a range of mediums to create original illustration, metal-smithed jewellery, and sculpture.

Their love of nature, bugs, alien forms and innovative creatures real and imagined spills into all of their making practice, whether it's glossy thorn jewellery or colourful bug monster drawings. Their art seeks to appreciate, honour and empower diversity and transformation.

I make colourful ceramics at home in Te Whanganui-a-Tara Wellington. I started collecting ceramics a few years ago and once our cupboard was full to the brim with mugs, I thought I should try it out myself and I fell in love with it.

No home is truly complete without some taxidermy gracing your mantle!

Antoinette is a Wellington artist working with taxidermy, and she’s super excited to be part of the next Ratbag market!

She only uses ethically sourced animals in her art practice which means that sometimes she is given animals that aren’t up to being turned into full taxidermy mounts. In the interest of not wasting these precious materials, she creates pieces using what can be preserved - perfect for the curiosity collectors out there.

Antoinette also creates taxidermy for educational collections, museums, film, and television shows. She exhibits her artwork around the country, most recently she exhibited her installation 'Entitled' (three fighting black-backed gulls) at Old St Paul's vestry.
