Esme: To start the custom made wedding dress process we met for a coffee… and immediately I loved Esme ideas and vibes for her dress. We had a great time during the fittings seeing the design come to life. The skirt was a full ball gown with train. Made from layer upon layer of bridal tulle in white, ivory and n**e creating the most amazing blush tone. To contrast the softness of the skirt the top was an ivory brushed satin. Cut in a cropped style with a split and covered button detail at the back. Esme looked stunning on her wedding day!

Recently Esme brought the skirt back in to get have to shorten so she could wear to a ball. Such a fantastic idea. ###

Emma: What a sweetie! Emma was a wonderful bride to work with. She came to me with her favourite top which we took inspiration from to create her wedding dress. The skirt had a satin base with a flowing gathered georgette overlay and train. A sweetheart fitted bodice gave a lovely contrast to the loose lace top. Emma picked a beautiful lace from Silk World - Fine Fabrics & Laces. The open split down the back with ribbon tie was the perfect finishing touch. Emma looked sensational on her on wedding day! ###

Renee: This was a really lovely dress to create. Renee came to me with a beautiful idea… to use the lace from her mother wedding dress. The design had a light romantic feel with the soft silk chiffon draped sleeves and flowing gathered skirt. The split was edged with hand cut lace pieces. The bodice was full lace with pearl button detailing at the back. Renee looked just perfect in her wedding dress. Xx

Kate: What a great bride! Kate was a joy to work with. I absolutely loved her classic black and white theme. She looked incredible on the day. The dress was an ivory stretch crepe with fit and flare silhouette and long train. The wrap detailing on the bodice was draped during a fitting with Kate to insure it perfect. Covered buttons were used down the back. To finish the look we created a 5m lace edge veil… just wow! ###

The bridesmaid dresses were also custom made. We used a soft stretch black crepe and kept the design simple. A square neckline and back, fitted with the curved split at the hem. Xx

Kim: Having been recommended to me from one of my amazing previous brides I knew this was going to be great. Kim was always super excited for our fittings. Being a fellow designer she knew exactly what she wanted and how the dress should look. Kim even tracked down the perfect lace herself. She made my job easy. The bodice had layers of tulle and soft mesh with the fine chantilly lace over. Some hand beaded Swarovski crystals were added to give a bit of sparkle. The skirt was a fit and flare silhouette made from a luxurious heavy silk crepe de chine. Kim's dress fit like a glove and she looked sensational on her wedding day! ###

Rachel: What a lovely bubbly bride. From my first meeting with Rachel I knew we would have a really special time creating her dream dress. The vibe was for vintage and pretty which I think worked out so beautifully. The bodice was an ivory satin with thick beaded lace pieced together. This blended down from the waist into the skirt. Cut into a full circle the skirt had so much movement and just perfect for twirling the night. Rachel looked sensational on her wedding day. ###

Chrissie: Such a delight! Chrissie was a fantastic bride to work with, she made my job easy. I always really looked forward to our fittings... honestly they were probably only half actual dress fitting. The rest of the time we were chatting non stop. The dress was so simple and timeless. The bodice was made from an ivory stretch satin with V neckline, V back and princess bust seams. The skirt was a full ball gown silhouette with box pleating at the waist and a long train. Covered buttons were a lovely finishing detail. The look was completed by wearing her Mother in Law's viel (after we had modified it slightly). I also got to meet Chrissie gorgeous Mum during the process. ###

Elaine: What a truly wonderful bride! Elaine was an absolute joy to work with, every fitting was full of fun and laughter. Her bubbly personality was infectious! We had actually met a few years previous while I was making her twin sister Jolene's wedding dress. So I was super excited to get an email from Elaine asking me to make her dress too. The bodice was made from a n**e toned silk satin with the most incredible heavy beaded lace over. The V neckline, high back and long sleeves showed off the lace's beautiful intricate details. Paired with a soft ivory satin A line skirt and train. A very classic and elegant look. Elaine was simply stunning on her wedding day! ###

Helen Forster - The Empress of Wedding Gowns by Johanna Osborne.

It doesn't matter how you look at it, for a bride-to-be there simply is nothing more important than the dress! And that is where Helen Forster comes in. Almost 5 years ago this talented young woman set her glittery heels down into the glorious world of wedding dress design, and she has not looked back since. Helen has already made the dreams of over 50 brides come true, and she's only just getting started.

Newly located in her easily accessible inner-city workroom, Helen Forster offers a custom-made bridal wear service; "I really enjoy working one-on-one with each and every bride to create that perfect dress. The brides really enjoy seeing their gowns coming together piece by piece. It's a very collaborative process and I love knowing that their dress will be completely unique to them. I also do custom-made bridesmaids dresses and bridal alterations." And in what can only be described as an on-trend bonus, Helen is adept at incorporating the same lace, beading or silk edging into hairpieces and/or veils for the added "je ne sais quoi!"

The best part of her job? "It doesn't feel like work at all. I'm so passionate and thoroughly enjoy what I do. All my enthusiasm makes the process of having a custom-made dress really fun and stress-free. My favorite part is seeing the bride's excitement at the final fitting and the finishings - making sure everything is completed to perfection."
