Santi: CIT TechnOlympics: A Spark of Innovation
The air crackled with anticipation, not just from the electrical wiring, but from the excitement of the College of Industrial Technology's (CIT) annual Techlympics. This year, the event fell on Dec. 11, 2024, and the Electrical Technology department was buzzing. The highlight? The Electrical Installation and Maintenance House Wiring Contest, a battle of skill and precision that pitted students against each other in a race against the clock.
The UAJEG, in collaboration with the Electrical Technology instructors, had meticulously organized the event. Tables were set up, each equipped with a pre-fabricated house wiring framework, a collection of tools, and a watchful judge's eye. The atmosphere was a blend of friendly competition and nervous energy. Students, their faces flushed with a mixture of focus and adrenaline, meticulously worked their way through the intricate wiring, their hands moving with practiced grace. The rhythmic tap-tap-tap of screwdrivers and the occasional hum of testing equipment filled the air, a soundtrack to the intense concentration.
The contest wasn't just about speed; accuracy and safety were paramount. Judges, seasoned professionals in the field, meticulously assessed each team's work, scrutinizing every connection, every twist of wire, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and industry best practices. The pressure was palpable, but the students persevered, their teamwork evident in their synchronized movements and shared problem-solving.
After hours of intense competition, the results were finally announced. The tension in the room was almost unbearable. The third-place winners, Guanzon and Carpentero, first-year students, beamed with pride, their achievement a testament to their dedication and quick learning. Second place went to Maghari and Canja, second-year students, their experience clearly showing in their precise wiring. But the champions, the ones who had truly mastered the art of electrical installation, were Tiad and Tubianosa, fourth-year students, their victory a culmination of years of hard work and expertise. The crowd erupted in applause, celebrating the skill and dedication of all the participants. The CIT Techlympics was more than just a competition; it was a celebration of innovation, teamwork, and the bright future of electrical technology.
