A simple reflection for the first day of “Misa de Gallo” (Rooster’s Mass) at the TNM Church.

As we gather today for the first day of Misa de Gallo, we step into a cherished tradition that heralds the dawn of the Christmas season. This beautiful celebration invites us to rise early and embrace the spirit of anticipation and hope that defines this time of year.

Let us reflect on the significance of this mass. Misa de Gallo is not just a ritual, but a call to remember the sacredness of the waiting period before the birth of Christ. Just as the rooster heralds the break of dawn, we, too, are invited to awaken our hearts to the promises of God.

In the stillness of the early morning, we find a moment of peace and reflection. It’s a time to set aside the busyness of our lives and center ourselves in prayer. As we light the candles and listen to the readings, may we open our hearts to the light of Christ, allowing it to dispel the darkness of doubt and fear.
