NEGROS OCCIDENTAL QUEENS SET TO SHINE AT MISS UNIVERSE PHILIPPINES 2025
Negros Occidental proudly sends two inspiring representatives to the national stage for Miss Universe Philippines 2025.
Franches Anne Laquibla of Negros Occidental and Louise Lian Enumerable Bobe of Bacolod City, both mothers, embody the values of inclusivity, resilience, and empowerment as they prepare to compete for the coveted crown.
Their journey begins in February, as they join the official roster of contestants in Manila, culminating in April when the reigning Miss Universe-Asia, Chelsea Manalo, will pass on her crown.
A Vision for Inclusivity
Kashmere Granada, the local franchise holder for Miss Universe Philippines Negros Occidental and Bacolod City, reflects on the historic shift in pageantry: "This is more than just a competition. It’s a stage for women to break barriers and redefine what it means to be a beauty queen. Through these franchises, we’re giving deserving women, no matter their stage in life, the chance to shine."
Granada’s leadership has been instrumental in preparing both queens, supported by a powerhouse creative team.
Notable contributors include Khalil Gib Estraño, creative head; James Larnelle, head stylist; and the Cosas brothers, who bring their artistic vision to life.
Additionally, Jude Chael's designs reflect the modern elegance that resonates with today’s empowered woman.
Queens with a Purpose
Laquibla, 20, is a champion for body diversity, rooted in her personal struggles with societal beauty standards. "I want every girl to know that their value isn’t defined by their appearance," she shares.
"Through this platform, I aim to create a space where all body types are celebrated."
Bobe, 28, advocates for equitable healthcare, financial literacy, and breastfeeding awareness.
As a mother and banker, her journey is deeply personal. "My role as a mother has taught me resilience, and I want to inspire other women to pursue their dreams despite life’s challenges," she says.
Lian also emphasizes the importance of healthcare accessibility, having undergone heart surgery as a teenager.
"This stage is an opportunity for me to raise awareness about affordable cardiovascular care, particularly for underserved communities," she adds.
A Celebratory Start
The inaugural Miss Universe Philippines Negros Occidental pageant, which kicked off in September, set the stage for a new era in pageantry.
With 21 contestants from various LGUs, the event not only showcased local beauty but also recognized the creativity of homegrown designers.
Acclaimed Filipino designer Louis Pangilinan added prestige by featuring his collections across competition segments.
Adding star power to the coronation night were Miss World 2022 Gwendolyn Fourniol, a proud representative of Negros Occidental, and Miss Cosmo Philippines Ahtisa Manalo.
The inaugural search also featured a charity event staged noble cause, raising funds for Kalipay Negrense Foundation and Feliz Love Foundation.
A Community Behind Them
Granada highlights the importance of a strong support system: "Our team is focused on preparing these women physically, emotionally, and intellectually. It’s not just about winning; it’s about representing Negros Occidental with pride and integrity."
As Laquibla and Bobe head to the national stage, they carry with them the hopes and dreams of their community.
Their participation not only highlights the evolving face of pageantry but also celebrates the strength and diversity of women everywhere. | PR
