Most famous religious and historical landmark in the province of Bacolod.

It was first built as a little chapel made of wood in the early 19th Century. The church was reconstructed in 1882 into a bigger structure made of coral stones from Guimaras and hardwood from Palawan.

The impressive parish structure of St. Jude Thaddeus established a new landmark in the ecclesiastical landscape of Bacolod.

It was the great generosity of the parishioners who initiated the desire for a house of sacred worship that was most impressive here. And the generosity of the family who donated the church's needed lot.

The San Antonio Abad Parish in Bacolod City is a living testament to a devout Catholic community's will and determination to establish a house of worship where they can come together and celebrate the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The San Antonio Abad Parish, like many other parishes before it, has a rich history that should be told in order to inspire the next generation on their journey through life.

It has a beautiful and historic church in Bacolod City, which is filled with priceless treasures such as the more than 8-foot bronze/brass image of the Risen Christ created by National Artist Salomon Saprid, which dominates the main altar. Huge paintings of each of the 14 stations of the Way of the Cross, each painted by a different famous artist, hung in strategic sections of the church's circular interior.

📍 Santa Clara Subdivision of Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.


It is commonly referred to as the "Mural of Birhen sang Barangay."

The chapel houses a large mural mosaic made of 95,000 pieces of various species of capiz shells from Bacolod City and Iloilo in their natural colors.
