VIRTUAL LAKBAY: TOUR GUIDING COMPETITION

Term of the Contest:
Deadline of submission of entries: March 13, 2022 until 5:00PM ONLY.

Who may join the Contest:
The Tour Guiding contest is open to all the SIHTM students of St. Dominic College of Asia.

Mechanics:
This activity aims to showcase Dominicans' critical thinking skills, communication skills, technological creativity, collaboration and deep understanding with their nature and their cultural heritage through video presentation.
1.This competition is an individual category and open to all Tourism and Hospitality Management students of St. Dominic College of Asia.
2.Participants must wear a Tour Guide uniform with ID during their video presentation.
3.Each participant will pick a Philippine destination of their choice.
4.Participants will submit a pre-recorded video using any audio-visual technology, equipment or devices.
5.Video presentation must not exceed 5 minutes but not less than 3 minutes.
6.Video presentation must show adherence to health and safety protocols to COVID-19.
7.Video presentations must be delivered in English.

GUIDELINES AND CRITERIA FOR JUDGING
A.Mastery of the object- 30 pts.
( knowledge of the location/destination)
B.Communication Skills (tone and quality of voice)- 25 pts.
C.Personal Appearance (appropriateness of attire)-15 pts.
D.Appropriate use of communication technology equipment or devices-15pts.
E. Overall presentation-15 pts.
TOTAL 100 Points

All participants and winners will receive e-certificates, with cash prizes for the winners.

Tampok Patok: Pinoy Street Food Styling and Photography Competition

Term of the Contest:
Deadline of submission of entries: March 13, 2022 until 5:00PM ONLY.

Who may join the Contest:
The Food photography Competition is open to all the SIHTM students of St. Dominic College of Asia.

What to capture in your Photograph:
Photos should be in the category of “street food”

Mechanics:
1.Participants can choose from any variety of Filipino Street foods.
2.Street beverages can be also included in addition to your piece (example; gulaman, halo halo, and others.)
3.Participants must attach their own watermarks to the photograph to avoid copyrights.
4.Be creative. You may use a DIY light box or you may choose nature as your background.

Participants must submit the following:
• Photographs must have been recently shot.
• Three (3) different shots should be submitted by each participant.
• Two (2) mb to 3 mb quality of image.
• The photo should be saved as JPEG.
• The food must be in a good style of plating and recognizable on the photo.

Penalties and Disqualification
-Photographs that are digitally or otherwise enhanced or altered for creative purposes. Altered Images refer to Photographs manipulated and applied with special effects (colorizing, toning, collage, photo composites, HDR, etc.). However, minor adjustments, including sharpening, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital equivalents, are acceptable.
-Photographs that have been submitted to or won in any other contests or have been published in print or online.
-Photos that violate another person’s rights, including but not limited to copyright.
-Photos which are highly immoral, relatively obscene and/or in violation of public moral and/or public policy.

How to join the Contest:
• Fill up the google form and complete the requirements needed for registration.
• Submit your entry/photograph together with the accomplished entry form.
• All photos submitted shall become properties of the Commission.

A.Food Presentation/Styling-35 Points
Innovation in plating and ingredients used-15
Hygienic arrangement of food-10
Similarity to the photo entry- 5
Over-all Impact- 5
B. Photography- 30 Points
Originality- 5
Technical Excellence (exposure, white balance & depth)-10
Composition- 5
Artistic Merit- 5
Over-all Impact- 5
C. Uniqueness of Design & Concept-15 Points
D. Over-all Artistic Merit -10 Points
E. Adherence to the theme -10 Points

Filipino Plated Dessert Competition 🥗

Deadline of submission of entries: March 13, 2022
until 5:00PM ONLY.

Who may join the Contest: The Filipino Plated Dessert Competition is open to all the SIHTM students of St. Dominic College of Asia.

What to be plated and styled:
The theme would be “Filipino Riced Cake” / “Kakanin”

Mechanics:
1.Participants should be composed of one to two (1-2) members only.

2.Participants should be in their proper chef’s uniform. (Clogs, pants, chef’s jacket, skull cap, apron, and side towels).

3.The theme of the food plating contest would be Filipino Riced Cake/Kakanin. Participants can choose their own preferred rice cake to be styled and plated.

4.Participants will prepare and submit the following:

-Four (4) final photo of the finished plate (top, bottom, right and left side)
-1 to 2-minute landscape video of each team introducing their name and section and brief description of their finished plate, and
-Non-edited thirty (30) to one (1) hour video of each participating team showing includes set-up and assembly cutting, plating and presentation. To show transparency to the organizing committee and judges.
-Submit your entries at [email protected] on or before March 13, 2022 until 5:00PM ONLY. Late submissions won’t be entertained.

No cooking will be allowed during the 45 minute video. Plating, assembling and set-up in the display area and finishing touches should be done on the allotted time of the competition.

5.Each team may use any color, forms, types or style of plates. High degree of creativity and imagination when plating and presentation are encouraged.

6.Display materials such as cloths, plate stands, riser, spot lights, etc, can be used for the display and exhibit video/photo.

7.The organizers reserved the right to reject entry, which does not comply with the rules or with any specific requirement and reserve the right to rescind, modify or add on any above rules and regulation and their interpretation of these are final.

A.Creativity and Degree of Difficulty- 30 Points
B.Aesthetic Appeal-25 Points
C.Uniqueness / Originality-20 Points
D.Over All Display Presentation-25 Points

One Sweet Day: Cupcake Decorating Competition 🧁

Deadline of submission of entries: March 13, 2022 until 5:00PM ONLY.

Who may join the Contest: The Cupcake Decorating Competition is open to all the SIHTM students of St. Dominic College of Asia.

Mechanics:
1.Each team must be composed of two (2) members only.

2.Participants must be in their proper chef’s uniform (clogs, pants, chef’s jacket, skull cap, apron, and side towels).

3.Participants must present a minimum of nine (9) edible decorated cupcakes.
The concept and decorations of cupcakes must be the sole work of the participants. They are free to choose their own theme for decorating as long as it exhibits artistic interpretation and all cupcakes should portray aspect of their chosen concept/theme.

4.Teams must come up with a unique name for their cupcake decoration and label it with creative descriptions.

5.Utensils and/or equipment to be used for preparation and decoration of the cupcakes will be provided by the participants.

Participants must prepare and submit the following:
-Minimum of 10 final photos of their decorated cupcakes
-1 to 2-minute landscape video of each team introducing their name and section and brief description of their chosen cupcake theme/concept.
-Non-edited thirty (30) to one (1) hour video of each participating team showing their set-up, cupcake decoration, and final presentation to show transparency to the organizing committee and judges.
-Submit your entries at [email protected] on or before March 13, 2022 until 5:00PM ONLY. Late submissions won’t be entertained.

Flair Bartending Competition 🍾

Deadline of submission of entries: March 13, 2022 until 5:00PM ONLY.

Who may join the Contest: The Flair Bartending Competition is open to all the SIHTM students of St. Dominic College of Asia.

Mechanics:
1.Participants are required to submit a 2 – 3 minute pre-recorded video of themselves doing a flair bartending routine. Video Editing such as video effects, music remix, filters and others are allowed. Routine must be continuous. Cutting of your video into parts is strictly prohibited.

2.You can ask the SIHTM property custodian for bar tools/equipment which you may use in your flair tending video routine. All you have to do is present your ID and your updated registration form to ensure that your identification is legitimate. Please keep in mind that borrowing of equipment is done on a first come, first served basis.

3.Wear your best bartending uniform (business corporate or bartender uniform).

4.Cocktail or Mocktail mixing is not included in this competition.

5.Video should be in landscape format.

6.Fill up the Google form and complete the requirements needed for registration.

7.Submit your entry/video record together with the accomplished entry form.

8. All entries submitted shall become properties of the Commission.

Penalties and Deductions
Three (3) Points deduction
Drops of flair bottle or shaker tin that leaves your control while attempting a move and hits any surface. Competitors will be penalized one drop for every object they lose control of and do not catch.

A. Difficulty- 25 points
B. Originality- 15 points
C. Variety-15 points
D. Overall Entertainment-25 points
