Miss Baguio 2024
Candidate No. 3 | Carla Stephanie Bendaen Tilap | 19 | Barangay Irisan

A multi-ethnic teenager born and raised in Baguio City, she is partly Ilocano and Bisaya, but predominantly a proud Ibaloi and Igorot of the city. A first-time participant in the field of Pageantry.

A consistent honor student since primary school until she reached college, she entered the University of Baguio as an athlete scholar. Inspired by her sports, she aspires to become an orthopedist. She has won multiple medals in local, national, and international competitions as a Wushu-Taolu player.

She is also an instrumentalist and musician and became an assistant coach in her field at the age of 16. She now teaches large classes for children committed to sports. Beyond her athletic and musical pursuits, she has been actively involved in numerous community activities through her church, where she is a dedicated member and worker in the music ministry.

Recently, she participated in her very first modeling runway show, which led to her becoming a brand ambassador for a top-tier, high-end saloon in the city. This role has greatly contributed to her studies apart from what she gets from her competition and working as a coach.

As an uncle involved in numerous public speaking engagements for different public and private organizations, I have had the pleasure of having her assist me in addressing large audiences. I am proud to share the stage with her.

BEYOND THE SURFACE. I am proud to say that beyond her beauty lies an achiever and advocate for youth development in sports. She is committed to helping children explore their potential for discipline, will, and grit, encouraging them to become the best versions of themselves in their chosen fields.

Carla is an international Wushu player who has won medals for Baguio City and the Philippines. She also served as an assistant coach for the Palarong Pambansa 2023, where her players won gold and bronze for the City of Baguio. She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy at the University of Baguio. This decorated athlete will be competing for Miss Baguio 2024 alongside her twin sister, Tonette!

Candidate No. 8 | Nicole Antonette Bendaen Tilap | 19 | Irisan

A multi-ethnic teenager born and raised in Baguio City, Nicole is partly Ilocano and Bisaya, but predominantly a proud Ibaloi and Igorot of the city. A second-time participant in the field of pageantry, she brings a rich cultural heritage to the stage.

Nicole graduated with honors and entered university as an academic scholar at the University of Baguio, pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She aspires to become a doctor of internal medicine in the future. An active member of the Nightingale Band at her university, she is deeply involved in music.

Since participating in a special program for the arts, she has been a soprano in a leading city choir, winning numerous championships in various competitions. A talented music artist, she composes her own songs and plays multiple instruments, from keyboard to guitar. Her passion for music has also led her to become a dedicated church worker involved in various community-driven activities.

Nicole was part of the WCOPA (World Championship of Performing Arts) team representing the Philippines in the USA this year, but due to some constraints, she delayed her participation. Last October, she competed in her first pageant, earning the 1st runner-up title in Ms. Ivadoi at the age of 18. Despite receiving many opportunities in pageantry after her initial success, she chose to focus on her studies.

A candid performing artist, Nicole has participated in numerous performances in the city, including starring as the main character in the Barbie Spectacular Show at The Manor. She has also become a runway model and brand ambassador.

As their Uncle, her twin sister Carla has been a great support in my speaking engagements, while Nicole has been a valuable asset in my social hosting. She has worked with Canish Events Organizing Services since the age of 16 as an events coordinator and music-technical assistant.

BEYOND THE SURFACE. Often noted for her resemblance to beauty queens, Nicole is much more than just a look-alike. She continues to advocate for cultural sensitivity and anti-discrimination, inspired by her own experiences as a multi-ethnic youth. She has faced discrimination from elders in her community for not perfectly delivering a specific dialect, yet she stands tall and takes pride in her identity. Nicole seeks to raise awareness about the importance of cultural sensitivity and the need to combat discrimination through education and advocacy. She believes that understanding and respecting different cultures is a must for the youth.🥰

Tonette is a musician and the twin sister of Candidate 3. She is currently studying for a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Baguio. A future doctor, she has been a choir member and plays both keyboard and guitar. She also competed in Miss Ivadoi 2023, where she won 1st Runner-Up. Tonette enjoys working with her twin sister during family activities, but this time, she is more than excited to compete against her for the Miss Baguio 2024 crown.

CANISH: Named after my three beloved nieces and nephew: Carla Stephanie, Nicole Antonette, and Ishmael Zhackary.

Passion: My career in event planning started in 2011. Being part of different event groups and hosting various occasions has always been my passion. If there's one role I love, it's planning and coordinating events. I get a rush from handling events, interacting with clients, and meeting diverse people who don’t know who I am in the events team. I enjoy stepping into a different persona on the ground, making each event a unique and exciting experience.

This passion drives me to be the best version of myself. I take pride in how service is provided because I am a service provider at heart. Since establishing CANISH in 2017, I am incredibly grateful to have an amazing team by my side.

Looking back on my journey through primary and secondary education, It is overwhelming with pride to have been a part of public schooling. It's where I found the desire to dream beyond my situation and chase paths I never imagined possible.

To my alma mater, Magsaysay Elementary School, I'm truly honored to have received an invitation through Ma'am Teresita Mandapat Baltazar, our dear teacher from our 1997-2003 batch. I'm candidly excited about the opportunity to share our shared experiences and discuss how they can inspire today's generation to pursue not just their dreams, but their passions too.
