On October 22,2024, the Department of Health Center for Health Development -Caraga, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Cortes conducted the PuroKalusugan held at Barangay Poblacion, Cortes, Surigao del Sur.

The PuroKalusugan program, overseen by the Department of Health's (DOH) Centers for Health Development (CHDs), aims to bring public health services directly to communities nationwide through the National Health Workforce Support System. This initiative will deliver essential primary healthcare services at the local level, encompassing a wide range of programs such as:

• Maternal and Child Health: Providing care for pregnant women and infants.

• Immunization: Ensuring children receive essential vaccinations.

• Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene: Promoting healthy practices to prevent disease.

• Nutrition: Addressing nutritional needs and promoting healthy eating habits.

• TB and HIV Control: Managing and preventing these infectious diseases.

• Non-Communicable Diseases Prevention and Control: Addressing chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

By decentralizing healthcare services and empowering local communities, PuroKalusugan seeks to improve access to essential health care and promote overall well-being across the Philippines.
