𝐁𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐲, 𝐁𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞: 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐃𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥, 𝐀 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

There is an old saying, “Earthquakes don't kill people—buildings do!”. With this, every school must take an appropriate measure to prevent all learners including school personnel to be victims from this natural phenomenon that threatens the lives of the people. Earthquake.

As an institution that prioritizes the welfare of its constituents, Barayong National High School conducts earthquake drill in consonance with the National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on September 7, 2023 at 9 o’clock in the morning.

An earthquake drill is one set of simulated emergency events designed to test the ability of school members to make the most suitable decisions to ensure their safety. Although earthquake is momentary, usually not lasting more than a minute, but it can leave behind terrible damage. It strikes unexpectedly, violently and without warning. However, identifying probable hazards and planning can reduce the threat of damage, injuries and most of all the loss of life.

Hence, Dr. Romualdo Pajigal Jr., the principal, leads this activity together with Mr. Joammy Cabais, the school DRRM Coordinator. Before the actual conduct of the event, the principal appeals to everyone to religiously and seriously perform the drill. He reiterates the importance of this endeavor, accentuating that the objectives must be attained and valued so that efforts would not be in vain. With the flaming heat of the sun, teachers, non- teaching personnel and all the learners join this activity with vigor and excitement. They faithfully and extremely do the appropriate actions and execute as if they are in a real scenario, concentrate on the drill and exhibit their full enthusiasm.

In order to make this activity more meaningful and worthwhile, the school invites the Philippine National Police (PNP), Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) from this municipality. Since they are the proper authorities who are equally important and very knowledgeable enough the Do’s and Don’ts during earthquake occurrence, they actively participate in the drill. They keenly monitor and observe everyone throughout the activity. They also guide and give suggestions to make this activity more productive and successful.

Indeed, everyone believes that this endeavor is very substantial because it is an opportunity for schools to practice what to do during earthquakes and to improve preparedness. This would train the staff and students with the necessary knowledge of how to react immediately and appropriately when an earthquake strikes without a hint of panic. This significantly decreases accidents, damage and loss of lives.
With the positive feedbacks and fruitful suggestions from PNP, MDRRMO, BFP and teachers during the evaluation and assessment, the Earthquake Drill of Barayong National High School is a successful one.

Therefore, it is only a hope that everyone who participates would always instill in his mind the learnings and the significant things that this activity has taught. A big hope that terror would not overpower the sensible mind of every individual anytime earthquakes will hit especially to the students. Most of all, it is an immense hope and fervent prayer of everybody that earthquake will never ever occur again.

𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐓𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐋𝐚𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡-𝐋𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐳𝐚 𝐭𝐨 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧'𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐭!

In a heartwarming display of appreciation and gratitude, the Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) joined forces with other school organizations, including Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) and Youth for Environment in Schools Organization (YES-O), to kick off a month-long celebration honoring the unsung heroes of education – teachers. The event, held at the school quadrangle on September 5, 2023, was a spectacular affair filled with entertainment, heartfelt gestures, and heartfelt messages.

The event, aimed at giving teachers a much-deserved break from their challenging teaching tasks, featured a dazzling array of production numbers, including dances and soulful song renditions performed by enthusiastic students. The performances were not only a testament to the talent within the school but also a way for students to express their gratitude for the dedication and hard work put forth by their educators.

One of the highlights of the program was the touching gift-giving segment. Students took this opportunity to express their appreciation by presenting their teachers with flowers, cakes, and tokens of gratitude. It was a poignant reminder of the profound impact educators have on shaping the future of young minds and molding them into responsible citizens.

Dr. Romualdo Pajigal, the principal of Barayong National High School, also took the stage to extend his heartfelt thanks to the teachers for their tireless efforts and unwavering commitment. Dr. Pajigal expressed his intention to introduce more activities in the school that would benefit both teachers and students, emphasizing the importance of a strong and supportive educational community.

Further adding to the sense of appreciation, the Parent-Teachers Association (PTA) awarded tokens of appreciation to teachers who have shown outstanding support for various programs and activities initiated by the PTA. This recognition served as a testament to the collaborative efforts between educators and parents in nurturing the students' growth and development.

The event reached its conclusion with a closing address by Miss Jeeian Elijah S. Sajol, the SSLG president, who thanked everyone for their participation and support in making the program a resounding success.

Despite their busy schedules, teachers were able to take a well-deserved break and enjoy the festivities, basking in the warmth and appreciation of their students, colleagues, and the school community at large. As the month-long celebration of Teachers' Month unfolds, this kickoff event serves as a heartwarming reminder of the crucial role teachers play in shaping the future of our society.

Barayong National High School, September 5, 2023 - Signifying the beginning of the school year, ALS students excitedly attend the school orientation conducted by the ALS teachers and administrators led by the ALS coordinator, Mr. Joammy T. Cabais, and the SHS assistant school principal, Mrs. Sharyll Mae A. Alboña. The students meet and greet their ALS school teachers as well as the newly installed school principal of Barayong National High School, Mr. Romualdo G. Pajigal, a staunch advocate of Alternative Learning Systems. He motivates the ALS students to continue their education journey, giving them optimism as they struggle to finish senior high school, regardless of how dire their situation is.
He also emphasizes the importance of technical vocational livelihood education to the lives of those in the TVL track, that the skills and knowledge they may acquire in the program could be used to help them earn income while still studying. Undoubtedly, Sir Jun, as he wittingly calls himself, one of the school principals who proposed ALS SHS in the Division of Davao del, indeed, is a firm believer of “Ang Kabataan ang Pag-Asa ng Bayan”, a beacon of hope to those marginalized learners.
Overjoyed and full of hope, the ALS students listened attentively to the briefing given by sir Joammy T. Cabais, as he discussed the qualifications and requirements for the ALS SHS Enrolment. To be enrolled in the program, a minimum age requirement of 19 will be catered, as well as those pregnant teens, young mothers/fathers, young workers, and Overseas Foreign Workers (OFWs) under Alternative Learning System for Honing Overseas and Revitalized Educands (ALSHORE) program.
The grading system was also deliberated by Ma’am Jennifer Emolyn B. Librando, the ALS SHS reading coordinator. She summed up how to pass the subjects, what to submit, and when to submit the requirements needed to pass the subjects. She also outlined the percentage for written work, performance tasks, and the quarterly exams.
Along with the orientation is the introduction of Project ALSHORE to the ALS students. Mr. Noel B. Cabaña presented the project, especially to those interested OFWs working abroad. This program is designed to help them continue and finish their senior high school. There is no need to come back here to the Philippines to enroll and study. Since Project ALSHORE is an online platform that everybody can access on the internet.

Barayong, September 4, 2023 - In an eagerly anticipated gathering, the teaching force of Barayong National High School convened at the school's quadrangle on September 4, 2023, to meet and interact with their newly installed school principal, Mr. Romualdo G. Pajigal Jr. The meeting, which lasted from 1:00 pm to 4:20 pm, was marked by enthusiasm and optimism as educators discussed the future organizational structure of the school.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the opportunity for teachers to introduce themselves, providing insight into their respective duties, functions, coordinatorship roles, and teaching loads. This exercise allowed both new and experienced educators to become better acquainted with each other's responsibilities within the school.

Principal Pajigal wasted no time in outlining his vision for the school. He expressed his intent to streamline the grade level organizational functions, ensuring clear identification of each grade leader's duties and responsibilities. This move is aimed at enhancing the school's overall efficiency and accountability.

Furthermore, Mr. Pajigal emphasized his commitment to fostering teachers' individual development. To achieve this, he announced plans to assign Master Teachers who would provide teaching enrichment programs. This initiative is expected to elevate the quality of education at Barayong National High School and support educators in honing their teaching skills.

The Principal also vowed to strengthen the Learning Action Cell (LAC) sessions, which play a pivotal role in professional development and collaborative learning among teachers. By enhancing these sessions, he hopes to create a vibrant learning community within the school.

In addition to focusing on the professional growth of the teaching staff, Mr. Pajigal acknowledged the need for better facilities for students. He expressed his commitment to creating a more conducive learning environment by initiating repairs and improvements to the school's classrooms. These enhancements are aimed at ensuring that students have access to safe and functional spaces for their education.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with smiles on the faces of both teachers and Principal Pajigal. The educators left the gathering with a sense of optimism, inspired by the promising plans put forth by their new school leader.

The first meeting of the Barayong National High School teaching force with Principal Romualdo G. Pajigal was not only a platform for introductions but also a promising start to what appears to be a bright future for the school. As the school year progresses, the educators are eager to see these plans come to fruition and contribute to the continued growth and success of Barayong National High School.
