There are photographers who cover not just major life events (e.g. birthdays, weddings, reunions, etc.), but also cosplay conventions. Some of them offer affordable rates for a set amount of time. Others offer free shots, with an option to donate any amount.
What has value is worth paying for, especially for photos that show those memorable events and glamorous fashion.
When cosplay photographers offer affordable rates, try to give them a tip. If it's a free photo shoot on a donation basis, be gracious to the photographer when it comes to donations and promotions.
Never let the financial details blind you to how people would perceive you. Establish positive and harmonious relationships, especially when working with digital creators.
After all, wouldn't it be great to be remembered as a gracious client?
To all my Facebook friends who are planning to celebrate important events like debut, weddings, birthdays, etc. and would wish to have these special events documented:
Please po, wag ninyong i-TY lang or baratin ang friends ninyo na photographers whether amateur sila or pro. And if you plan to use these arguments, wag na po.
BARAT LINES:
1. Barkada naman kita. Libre na lang ang shoot. Thanks!
2. Ako na bahala sa food. Bubusugin kita ๐
๐
3. Ang mahal naman pre! Pwede 500 lang? Presyong barkada lang pls! Sige na pre, idol kita tlga.
Why should you not do these to them lalo na kung skilled diba? Here are my arguments in behalf of my photographer friends who are enthusiasts and pros:
1. It is an INSULT to their skill.
2. You ask for their time. And time is PRICELESS!
3. Shooting and covering events are VERY TIRING. You try roaming around and responding to people's photo opp requests with a camera with you. Do that for a number of hours. That is very taxing.
4. Photographers do post-processing. That also takes time. Spending hours or days to edit.
5. CAMERAS, like cars, have life expectancy too. They don't and won't last forever.
6. PHOTOGRAPHY IS EXPENSIVE. THE GEARS ARE EXPENSIVE. Even the entry-level cameras (beginner cameras) are very expensive. Some lenses are even more expensive than a second-hand car. These people invest a lot of money to their passion and yet you are asking for a free shoot?
It is like you are demanding the bakeshop for a cake yet you only paid for a muffin. ๐ค๐
Be human. Be sensitive. Pay what is due. If not, then go for cellphone photography.
This is for awareness. This is not meant to offend anyone, not even to serve as a cheap shot or indirect assault.
