The CTHM Research Committee, in collaboration with the event class of 3HCE1, spearheaded the recently concluded 11th St. Hyacinth Research Colloquium and Lecture 2022 on May 11 and 20, 2022 with the theme: “Multi-Dimensional Research in the New Normal.” The research lecture and awarding ceremony was held on May 20, 2022. The chairperson of the Hospitality Management Department. Mr. Juanito Luis S. Reyes, MA opened the event by addressing the participants with message of encouragement.
An insightful discussion about qualitative research in the tourism and hospitality industry delivered by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Trupp, the Associate Dean for Research and Undergraduate from Sunway University Malaysia. He highlighted the importance of research and its effects in the industry and elaborated on how, in the journey of life, one should not stop researching and that there is a broad range of approaches and methods in tourism research. He concluded his discussion by stressing that the results from researchers need to get out and should be accessible for everyone.
The awarding ceremony started with a recapitulation of the two-day event delivered by Mr. Karl R. Baroro, MBA, the assistant research coordinator of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Right after, the selected winners from the 6 clusters for Tourism management, and 3 clusters for Hospitality management for Best Research Poster, Best Oral Presenter and Best Research Manuscript were announced by the Hyaliksik head for program, Ms. Rica Ella Abrenica and assistant over-all chair, Mr. John Paolo Trillana together with the research course facilitators, Dr. Kristy Aireen G. Reamillo, and Chef Reinald A. Andaya, MSHRM.
This event was closed with inspiring remarks from the beloved Dean of the College of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Atty. Gezzez Giezi G. Granado, DCL congratulating the winners as well as the Hyaliksik 3HCE1 M.I.C.E. class who organized the event along with the CTHM Research Committee.
