After the recent storm in the Philippines, the link between love and nature feels even more important to talk about. This was not simply a natural disaster—it was a crisis intensified by neglect and indifference towards oppressive systems against people and Mother Nature.

What could this disaster look like if only the leaders in charge made decisions from a place of love vs. self interest?

If only the big corporations and the exploitive billionaires who are responsible in emitting millions of carbon tons each year care more about our collective future?

Perhaps that same care would flow back to the people in real, life-saving ways.

As Alaga says, “Nawa’y maging ganoon din ang pagtanggap at pag-alay ko ng pagmamahal sa buhay”

Because to care for our environment is to care for each of us. For those who lost loved ones, homes, and belongings.

The exist, extend long sleeve and bandana were designed by

It took a while for us the get here- mostly because I didn’t know what I wanted. (Thanks for the patience Nash lol). All I knew was I love Nash’s approach to design, and I wanted a shirt to celebrate Paraluman’s transition into our new world.

Two words have been in my head a lot when reflecting on Paraluman: existence and extension. Mostly because I’ve been having existential thoughts on why we even exist anymore, and how I can make our current existence an extension of what flora can do for us. Not just as something to appreciate with our eyes, but as something to heal us, and further connect us with each other.

We ended up with the words “xzist” and “xtend” on the arms, and an image Nash lifted from the Not Just For Lovers poster— an event we did with transit records earlier this year.

This is more than just a shirt and bandana for me. Creating it brought a lot of anxiety: no one will “get” it, no one will buy it, no one gives a s**t about this transition. But it also gave me the space to be safely vulnerable through the changes, an opportunity to work with Nash, , , and and to finally jump start the transition that I’ve been holding off for months.
