50 years of the fraternity have passed by, but the compact blood of the brotherhood and sisterhood remains the same.

On the 14th day of August, the year 2022, Pi Sigma Fraternity celebrates its milestone in reaching its 50th founding anniversary at the Bahay ng Alumni in the University of the Philippines. With almost 300 Sigmans, the event successfully showcased its 50 years of Service to Humanity and the Paragon of scholarship.

With three of the founders of Pi Sigma Fraternity; Founder Emilio Aguinaldo, Founder Robert Sombillo, and Founder Onofre Galvez gracing the event, they commemorate how a rainy day on the 15th of August, the year 1972, in Room 229 of Molave gave birth to a now an established fraternity. Looking back to how they started, these three founding Sigman honored the efforts and contribution of the Sigmans over the 50 years since its formation. The grip of each member is to lead with their established principles, be part of building a free and just country, serve humanity, and be the Paragon of scholarship vested into over 10,000 Sigmans in all over more than 75 chapters around the world.

The once dream of the founders is now clearly seen and strengthened by the hardship experienced in time. With all of these, the event vested recognition in each Sigman decade with their notable contribution to the fraternity. A plaque of appreciation was presented to everyone to serve as a symbol of their strong commitment to the brotherhood. Speeches from different sector leaders and representatives made it feels like it was still their day one in ensuring the brotherhood that Sigman legacy would be passed on day by day. A spotlight on remarkable Sigmans who initiated projects for the brotherhood like Attorney Crisostomo Uribe and Mr. Anthony Silan were recognized and given a chance to impart their words in celebrating the 50 years of Pi Sigma Fraternity.

Photo exhibits and memorabilia presentation conceptualized by Sigman Roy Tan and executed by Sigman Franz Suico is the first highlight that all attendees see upon entering the venue while being serenaded by Pianist Lalan Pesigan. These photos and memorabilia bring the memories as if it was still the day it was taken and given, making all Sigmans reminisce the young days of the fraternity’s brotherhood. It cannot be denied how these photos and memorabilia strengthen the will of every Sigmans to feel like it was still the first day and keep the principles on why it was established.

The night filled with smiles, tears of joy, and grace as each Sigmans strengthen their ties and broaden their connection to everyone. Every video presentation of each Sigman decade travels them back and makes their hearts go on to make the Pi Sigma Fraternity greater. It has been 50 years but those memories are still fresh in their minds.

The challenge of the different Sigman decades to the present generation is a statement that the young is the future for the established fraternity. Young Sigmans vowed to all the Sigmans that they will uphold the legacy set and keep the fire burning to serve the people and keep the Paragon of scholarship in leading the nation with integrity.

Memories bring back the young selves of every Sigmans in a painting exhibit made by Mr. Mark Java as it shows different hangout places and remarkable spots where every Sigmans dream and serve. The painting showcased how 50 years honed every Sigmans as who they are now but remains the same young individuals who bravely joined the brotherhood to make an impact in society. An auction of the painting also happened and Sigmans raised their hands to sn**ch the symbol of Pi Sigma Fraternity’s 50 years.

Gratitude bags with Pi Sigma batch T-shirts and items from sponsors were given to all attendees. Food and drinks presented by Paramount Events caterer, Seng Decierto, kept the Sigmans full while enjoying the night. The shared conversation while eating and drinking gives a breath of fresh air with Sigmans in socializing among everyone.

The night is alive with the ensemble performances from Kontra Gapi, a warm serenade of Eliza Jem through a violin performance, dances from Teri and the Ballet Duo of Eloisa Tangalin and Joseph Orande and beautiful song performances of Frances Jirehand Elora Españo. Dexter Nicolau and Princess Legaspi on the other hand serve as the night’s hosts in celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Pi Sigma Fraternity.

The night was concluded with a blast as indoor fireworks light up the night by welcoming a new decade for the brotherhood to look forward. It has been 50 years, and every Sigmans seems to still feel young in their hearts as the brotherhood keeps the fire burning and kept the principles as it is from the beginning, Paglingkuran ang Sambayanan and being a Paragon of scholarship.
