Bedico, a graduate of Hotel and Restaurant Management, started his own business by making sandwiches and delivering them to the stalls in Pentranco Terminal, Quezon Avenue,Quezon City. Two years after, he won among several bidders the contracts to operate the company canteens of Concrete Aggregates Co. Capital was purely borrowed from friends with minimal interest. The contracts were renewed sever
al times until April 1981. In 1980, with little savings and some equipment acquired from their canteen operations, a small fine dining restaurant was opened in San Pedro, Laguna. In May of the same year, they started a bakery business, Capri Bakeshop, at their residence in Luna St., San Pedro, Laguna. Oscar served as the baker, and his wife, Cecilia, as the saleswoman. Later, additional personnel were hired to help expand their business. A delivery crew was organized to deliver bakery products from Makati to Calamba, Laguna. When the San Pedro Public Market was reconstructed, a stall was acquired and the second branch of Capri Bakeshop was opened. In 1982, a parcel of land was acquired along Mabini St, San Pedro, Laguna. In the following year, Oscar and Cecilia was granted a loan which was used to construct a building on the said land. In its initial stage, only the first and second floors were constructed, where Capri Bakeshop was transferred. The construction of the first building was continued and the third floor and rooftop were finished. At present, the third floor serves as the Commissary of Capri Bakeshop and Jardin de San Pedro. During the following years, Capri expanded its operation to Binan, Sta Rosa and Cabuyao Laguna. In 1993, they opened Jardin de San Pedro Catering Services. In the same year, due to the overwhelming response of the clients of Jardin ni Don Pepe, Oscar and Cecilia, with their three children Cecille, Tracy and Aster converted their backyard in an elegant reception area where Jardin de San Pedro is now located. Currently, Jardin is the place of sumptuous food and excellent service. Bedico has taken over the management of Jardin ni De San Pedro, and Aster L. Bedico, over the bakery business.
