Otaku Tacloban Convention - Otacon

With the upcoming Otaku Tacloban Convention (Otacon) this year no longer hosted by Otaku Tacloban Cosplay Host Organization - OTCHO, we confirm that the event name now belongs to Tacloban Anime Mascot TV who will be hosting the event from now on.

Otacon was created as the first event of OTCHO, combining the connections of TAMTV’s founder for the venue and some sponsors and the rest (other sponsorships, staff, booth owners, papers processing, posters, venue layout, mascot, logo, etc.) by OTCHO. The name was coined by the director of OTCHO, highlighting the different kinds of otaku in Tacloban especially cosplayers. Otacon is believed to be the first big cosplay mall event in Tacloban, not only attended by kid but also young adult cosplayers.

We are happy to have had this event last year which is one of the events that reignited the cosplay community in Tacloban and became part of history. With the current decision of having it organized by solely TAMTV and their volunteers, we are now formally renouncing our ownership of it for them to officially use the name of the event.

Dear Otaku Tacloban Community,

We hope this message finds you well. We, the Otaku Tacloban Cosplay Host Organization - OTCHO, want to express our gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the months.

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the postponement of our major events this year until further notice. This decision was not made lightly, but we believe it's necessary to take a break, recalibrate our team, and focus on enhancing our individual expertise.

During this time, we'll be working diligently to register our organization, aiming to provide even more opportunities for the local otaku community in Tacloban and nearby areas. We're exploring options to establish ourselves either as a nonprofit organization or as a business to better serve you.

We understand this news might come as a disappointment, but please know that it's a step towards ensuring better experiences in the future. However, we're not completely stepping away! We'll keep in touch and may organize smaller events like busking to stay connected with you all.

Once again, thank you for your incredible support during our past events, including FanFest, CosFair, HobbyExpo, and Otacon. Your enthusiasm fuels our passion, and we're eager to return stronger than ever.
