A "red letter day", "scarlet day", is any day of special occasion or importance. My goal is for you to have a worry-free experience on your special day. I have worked in the corporate world for more than 10 years before deciding to be self-employed right after I got married. My passion for wedding events started when I was a member of Singles For Christ. I got to witness a lot of my friends gettin

g married and sometimes I even participated in the wedding preparations itself. When it was my turn to get married, my husband and I took a hands-on approach for our wedding preparations. After our wedding, I attended a seminar for weddings and debuts coordination and in this I learned a lot. My first client was a close friend back in 2014 and from then on I became a witness to a lot of forevers being started. I look forward to working with you and becoming a part of your Red Letter Day! Let’s go for a few more details to take note of…

6. Avoid asking your caterers to stretch food service or provide seats and tables for people outside of the agreed count. If you’re paying for 100 guests, pls don’t expect them to bring food for 120 pax or 2 more extra tables and 20 more chairs.

7. Avoid asking your sound system tech to handle the projector/led as well. Providing musical scoring for the program requires full attention towards what is going on. There should be a separate tech for the visuals you need to play. They should not share laptop as well.

8. Avoid hiring friends to handle tasks if they aren’t professionally doing such. It can cause problems on the day or days before when they back out because they realized they can’t handle it.

9. Avoid sending messages to the suppliers at odd hours. Avoid being fickle and expecting the suppliers to keep track. Have a final mtg to iron out all details then avoid changing major details from that point onwards.

10. Avoid treating coordinators as househelp. They are there to make things run smoothly. If you will make them do tasks outside their scope then they will end up failing at their mai tasks.

Noon pa man, ayon sa Code of Canon Law No.1108 ng Simbahang Katolika, LIMANG (5) TAO lamang ang kailangan upang maisagawa ang isang Catholic Wedding Ceremony;

1 - Ang pari o diyakono na magkakasal
2 - Ang magkasintahang nakatakdang ikasal (kumpleto na sa mga requirements)
2 - Ang dalawang tatayong saksi o witness ng kasal (nasa wastong edad at nakauunawa na sa kaganapan na kanyang sasaksihan)

Gayunpaman, sa kulturang Pilipino, bilang respeto, nakagawian nang isama sa simbahan ang mga magulang at mga kapamilya ng magkasintahang ikakasal dahil ang kasal ay itinuturing na okasyong pampamilya.

Mga kapatid, kung gipit sa salapi, hindi mo kailangan ng sandamakmak na mga abay, mga ninong at mga ninang, at mga bisita para makaranas ka ng pinapangarap mong Catholic Church Wedding. Ang mahalaga ay ang mabasbasan ang pag-iisang dibdib ninyong magkasintahan.

Why do guests need to RSVP?

1) couples need the responses 2 weeks prior so they can pay their caterer for the right number of heads (and per head rates are usually expensive)

2) every seat is super important now that seats are limited due to safety protocols — it would be so sad to reserve a seat for someone who is not going anyway

So if you say “attending”, pls go to the ceremony and finish the whole program (provided it is within a reasonable time frame and the program is not offensive)

3) saying “not sure” is not fair because it puts the couple on the spot — they need to reserve a seat for you because you might go (so the per head rate gets wasted if you really won’t go)

Guests, pls save everyone the trouble of following up — respond honestly. The couple won’t get mad if you say you can’t attend 2 weeks before their big day.

Part of my coordination package (even for OTD) is conducting RSVP text blasts. Why is that needed? Because 99% of Filipino guests don’t RSVP on their own. Some don’t even respond even when sent messages. However, couples need the responses to avoid paying more than necessary and to avoid having unoccupied seats during the reception.

{note to couples: invite those with personal connections, especially now that seats are limited — that way, you won’t experience much heartache in the responses of guests or on flakers on the day of the wedding}

Sheena of SMA Weddings and Beyond created this. Sharing here because it’s really not the job of coordinators to prepare scripts for friends who will be asked to emcee. Coordinators can provide the framework for the program but the script should come from whoever will be holding the mic. 🙂

If the friend can’t emcee without someone else making the script then it’s best to consider hiring a professional — one who knows, breathes, and lives weddings 🙂
