Kind of rainy here in Manila now and I am Ma La Dreaming 🍜

Ma La Xang Guo or Ma La for short. This is a bowl of sauteed vegetables, noodles, choice of meat and balls, tofu skin, and blend of Asian flavors. Spicy, salty, umami, oily, and is truly addicting, served (and best eaten) with a steamy bowl of rice. Big thanks to the SIL who introduced this to us during our visit, it is their favorite, too. No, not selling this (maybe in the future). 😋🍲

Why DURIAN away from me?

A little story, I never liked the smell and never thought of eating this fruit before. But out of curiosity, I made it into these lovely milk cakes, topped with pillow-soft whipped cream and added the fresh fruit and mixed tree nuts. And just like magic, I can't smell how stinky it is. It sometimes smell like sweet mango for me. RN, all I know is that it is sweet, extremely creamy, with a hint of umami playing on my tongue. 💚🧡
