Japanese term 柔術 (say: jiujutsu) means „benign art”, „art of softness”, or else „art of flexibility”, where 柔 = benign, soft, limber flexible) whereas 術 = skill, way, art), which should be meant as, a method of combat involving self-adaptation, i.e. a skilful way of using movements and vital pressure points in opponent's body in order to defeat him, while using as little physical strength as possible. By fighting in this way, which requires know how of appropriate combat techniques, skill of using them in practice, physical condition, and psychological resistance, there can be defeated a stronger physically opponent, even if he is armed.
Evolution of Japanese war craft yawara (柔) currently known as jujutsu (柔術) has not come to an end. Many theoreticians and practitioners of the hand-to-hand combat from various countries while basing on the techniques of jujutsu, karate, judo, aikido, wrestling, boxing, but also on their own experiences and ideas, have worked out original systems of self-defence, real combat and combat sports. Even though they relate to the tradition of Japanese martial arts and use the name jujutsu (also known as ju-jitsu, jiu-jitsu), in fact have not much in common with this original samurai combat system.
POLISH JIUJUTSU is a worked out in Jaworzno in 1990 is system of hand-to-hand combat and self defence system, which comprises four subsystems:
Jiujutsu Self-defence and techniques of overpowering
Sport Jiujutsu
Jiujutsu real hand to hand combat
Nihon Koryu Jiujutsu no kata (selected techniques of Japanese old schools of jujutsu).
Through its name, Polish Jiujutsu refers to the old Japanese martial art jujutsu (formerly yawara).
Sport contest is a rivalry either as individual or group between people striving to defeat one’s opponent.
The aim of Jiujutsu sporting event is to determine winners, i.e. best fighters in given competitions and categories. Result achieved by fighter is a reflection of his level of being trained and constitutes evaluation of training process as conducted in Jiujutsu school.
Participation in Sport Jiujutsu competition constitutes a significant element in preparing the trainee for a real hand-to-hand combat and self-defence. This is so, since sport fight teaches self-control, shapes courage, determination, as well as resistance to pain and stress.
Sport Jiujutsu – Free Style Fighting Format competitions are held since 1992 in observance of regulations worked out by the Master Tomasz Guja from Jaworzno.
In 2013 Tomasz Guja created the World Sport Jiujutsu Organization (WSJO) and conducted in Jaworzno the 1st WSJO Sport Jiujutsu World Championships. In a short time, organizations and athletes from all the world joined to the new federation. The new era of Sport Jiujutsu has begun.
WSJO is secular organization which propagates peace, friendship and respect for other human being. A member of the World Sport Jiujutsu Organization can be a legal person (organization, association, federation, club and another sports organization).
Sporting Jiujutsu competitions:
Sport Jiujutsu fighting - fight in standing position and on the ground. The competitors deliver with a closed fist striking, kicks, joint locks, choke holds and takedown techniques. Fighters are equipped with special gloves and feet protectors. The regular time for adult fight is 2 x 2 minutes periods.
Sports Self-defence – duel between pairs of players presenting self-defence techniques against grips, strikes and attacks with the use of a weapon (stick, knife, firearm). The referees judge correctness of the presented techniques and the spectacular value of presented by the couple of competitors.
Grappling Gi – involves predominantly fighting on the ground. Points are awarded for takedown techniques, pushing from the battlefield and mount position. Effective lever or choking end fight prematurely. The regular time for adult fight is 4 minutes. Striking is forbidden.
Realistic self-defence – athlete’s goal is to repulse the opponent’s attack for 2 minutes.
MMA Guja Jiujutsu – full contact combat in standing position and on the ground with few limitations, where there are allowed punches with fist, kicks, striking with elbow, knee, head hit, takedowns, joint locks, choke holds.
