I think one of the most bittersweet parts about being a parent is wishing they could stay little forever yet being excited to see the humans they are becoming. It's a messy and beautiful pull in both directions and it's why family films tug at my heart, seeing these littles as they are and being able to escape back to it again and again.

Do you have someplace that means a lot to your family?
I love it when families ask me to come capture them at a location that is important to their story, in this case, Stephanie said to join them at their family lakehouse north of Atlanta, and quite close to my own cabin in North Carolina. I spent the morning with these guys doing what they love to do at their lake, fishing, swiming, boating, and lots of chocolate chip pancakes. It was perfect, thank you Stephanie Soltau for asking me to capture these moments.

As a Mom of a 9 year old and twin 7 year olds, when I rewatch moments like this it just gets me. I can't get enough of hearing my own babies voices from the films I have of them from this age. The literal best! 😍😍

The first time I met @jill_seamer was at our 2019 FilmingLife Retreat in Australia and I remember being in awe of how motherhood suited her, she was so relaxed and positive and her oldest, Shae, was just a little one back then but just beyond sweet and funny, she came along to the retreat and we all got to meet her.
Fast forward to this summer, Jill had me fly to her home in Michigan (when I was in the USA in June/July to make films) to capture them at their home, this time with little Maddie in tow. ❤️ Gosh... Maddie is a HOOT, I tried hard to bottle up every little thing she said as it was all just beyond funny. And Jill… watching her in one of the last times she nursed her youngest, so much love for you my friend.
The thing I love most about this family & their film is that it’s honest. Real memories, real life, really chatter, real memories. No pretense or show, just a family being themselves. It’s the best gift that a family can give to an artist, to truly BE themselves. And now, this will be here for Maddie and Shae , Jill & Sean to rewatch, over and over, year after year, growing and giving the gift of memories documented.
Thanks Jill for asking me to come spend the night , you truly have something special going on in your home ❤️❤️
