Excerpts from a brilliant Live electronic music performance at Uploading at Headquarters recently by Falling Islands aka Tan E-Reng our music production instructor. Well done!

Here’s what he had to say about his set:

“For my set at HQ I wanted to perform a set of melodic ambient techno and house music, inspired by the works of Jon Hopkins, Tangerine Dream, and BURG, that only made use of hardware synthesizers. No laptops. I am a big fan of minimal setups that give maximum impact, so I elected to only have two pieces of gear, the Novation Circuit and the Korg Minilogue XD, both of which would just be directly plugged into the in-house DJ mixer. The Circuit was used to provide the beats and basslines, while the Minilogue XD was used to create looping textures and atmospheres that would accompany the beats. Other than some basic preparation, the set was actually improvised from start to finish, which gave it a very loose, free-form feel throughout that responded organically to the space and to the crowd.”

Our music production instructors Ben Ang performed a live DJ set on Ableton Live and E-Reng on DJ duties respectively at the Goth party at last Saturday. What a night! Thanks to Amos from for coming by and showing support.

Working on a second teaser trailer for our HDYP - Wax To Workstation series filmed at .sg coming out soon .Preparing the audio for such videos can be done on easy to use programs such as Audacity by Soundforge.
