Guess this is what it means to be a true blue Singaporean. While I don’t like everything about it, it will always have the sweet spot in my heart ❤️

Day 4 of GYS is more a community outreach.

We took a rather long drive from Can Tho to Ah Giang Community.

Managed to visit the mosques and have lunch there before heading back.

Day 3 of GYS Vietnam- final presentation and results!

And of course the GYS performances which uncovered many singing talents!

Visit to Mekong Delta, Cu Lao Mai Island and then back to meeting venue for more forums and sharing.

Day 1 of GYS Vietnam!

After a simple kick off, we had a couple of speakers sharing then it’s Round 1 of the Project Presentations.

Judges heard from 8 Junior teams and 7 senior teams of which 6 from each category were selected to proceed to the Finals on Day 3.

We wrapped up Day 1 with a Bahn Mi making activities!!

Day 2 we will be off to Mekong Delta and Cu Lao Mai Island.

GYS 2024 Can Tho, Vietnam!

Since arrival on Monday…. It’s briefing in process, setup in process, eating in process….. 🤣🤣😂

And we are finally ready to welcome all the delegates from Cambodia, Nepal, Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore and India.

It’s gonna be 4 days of excitement with speakers sharing, forum discussions, project presentations, 2 community outreach activities and more!

So watch this space for more updates!

It’s been an exciting 21 years!

Since Red Box Events started on the beautiful date of 030303; it has been an exhilarating experience.

Within 3 months we clinched the SDU contract to run 1000 dating events over 2 years, of which we still hold this record.

Over the years, we went on to work with corporate, government and even charity organisation clients and some clients have since become friends and valuable associates ❤️

We never thought COVID would put a dent on us as pre-COVID, we have pivoted to provide events training.

And post COVID saw us travelling with client Hemispheres Foundation for events taking place out of Singapore.

With our coming of age, we will soon add (focusing on events industry) to our suite of services to complete the full cycle of events planning & operations, events training and sustainability in events!

My first project trip to India is coming to an end.

The last 4 days was spent in various cities of India visiting factories and speaking to village residents on their cooking needs.

Thankful for this opportunity to travel to Mumbai, Nashik, Aurangabad and even Rajkot!

When I started my career in events planning, never had I thought I would have such opportunities to travel and bring my expertise to impact communities out of Singapore.

If it different running events in other countries? Definitely so due to culture differences.

“Events jobs are for the buay tak chek people aka people who are academically weak…”

It shocked me to hear that from my students when I started teaching events planning in the Polytechnic more than 10 years ago!

But it got me thinking and I realised there are some truth in that statement… I know events planners out there are gonna disagree but hear me out.

To be an accountant, doctor, do u need qualification? Yea you need.

To be practicing law, do you need to be trained and pass the bar? Hell yea!

But does one need to have a mandatory qualification to do events? The answer is no.

ANYONE can run events.

From planning your 21st birthday celebration to your own wedding; to your child’s birthday, then perhaps office party; followed by bigger office events, the list goes on.

Think about it…. When is the last time you do an event?

Then think again…. Was it so simple?

Whilst the industry do not exactly asked for qualification, WE WANT STANDARD.

And it goes beyond paper qualification to be able to multi-task to put an event together; especially a public event.

So am glad some events associations are offering certification programme to up the quality and standards of events practitioners.

So I tell my students - don’t ever let anyone put you know as academically weak or buay tak chek just because you are studying events. Because it takes more than a piece of academic qualification to be a darn good events planner.

As an events planner you are also the creative brain, the negotiator, the financial controller, the manpower manager, the decision maker, the marketer, the liaison officer and the list goes on……

So you think anyone can run events?

Don’t for a minute think just because you have organise your own events before; you are now an expert.

As an events planner for 30 years I am still learning from each event I handle.

GREAT NEWS TO SHARE!

First, after some 30 years in events; I managed to roll out my ITOL Events Certified Course!

Now, I received another good news that I / Red Box Events Pte Ltd, has been awarded ITOL Accredited Delivery Partner status which means….

We can now accredit events related courses in Asia aka in the long run we can be positioned like an academy specialising in events related training!!

Finally all my hard work is bearing fruits!!!

A UK Professional Body issuing credentials globally in the areas of Training (both practitioner and management); Coaching; Consulting and Facilitation at both Certificate and Diploma level.

After hassling for a few years I finally rolled out my own propriety 2-day Events (ITOL) Certification Course.

It is a power-packed 2 days with lots of sharing and discussions and I dare say the inaugural batch of learners definitely took home pointers not found in the text book.

Completed my inaugural run for my 2-Day ITOL Events Certification Course.

Overall, it’s a 4.5/5 rating which is awesome! This tells me there will always be room for improvement!!

Day 2 started with 3 environmental advocates sharing their views on green sustainability.

Followed by a workshop on composting.

After lunch, there were 2 forum sharing on Sustainability Living by our semi finalists.

In addition there were some activities and displays for everyone!
