Handmade Sri Lankan love cake was individually packed into these beautiful gift boxes and presented to each guest at .ankit & .rajah’s dinner celebration.

Sri Lankan love cake, or ‘Bolo D’Amor’, dates back to the 16th Century, when the island was briefly ruled by the Portuguese. It was ‘born’ through the intermarriage of Portuguese men with local Sinhalese and Tamil women.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Using semolina and preserved winter melon (‘Puhul Dosi’) imported from Portugal, Sri Lankan women in that era crafted this delicious cake.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It is infused with rose and almond essence, as well as loaded with cashew nuts and spices like cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, and nutmeg, which are plentiful and popular on the island. The result is a bold cake with a unique flavour and an intoxicating fragrance.
