Some 30+ years ago, through the kindness of strangers & some luck, packed all I have into 2 bags & took the longest flight till then. Landed on a fine spring day & few hours later, alone & curious, took a train into Umeda-Osaka. It was my 1st real introduction to Japan. Places I used to frequent have changed beyond recognition, but its the memories of the places & friendships made that matters.

Got hold of fresh pohpiah skin & with whats available out there, just had to make my own. Slow cooked with prawns & crabmeat for yummy umami filling. Like my pohpiah with some gravy from the filling like in Penang😋😋😋

Ripe banana+flour+raisins+toasted coconut flakes+egg to bind>>oil to fry>>sprinkle of white sesame seeds= fluffy banana cake >> yummy snack for the weekend

Prawns, pork belly & baby squids from the freezer, chye sim & carrots from the chiller. Add some yellow noodles, chicken stock & pork lard- fried hokkien noodles ready for lunch. Complement with sambal belacan, pickled green chilli & vege acar. 😋

Had a quite lousy fried beehoon earlier this week at an event. Always an incentive for me to home-cook 😂 similar dish. Fried beehoon with tinned braised pork. Complemented with vege acar, pickled green chilli & sambal belacan
