🏊♂️🚴♂️🏃♂️ My First Triathlon: An Unforgettable Journey 🏃♂️🚴♂️🏊♂️
From Doubt to Determination
A few years ago, I was battling weight issues and an inactive lifestyle. Running and cycling? Not for me. But with the support of my family, especially Chloe ( ), I found the courage to try. My wife signed me up for my first triathlon on 22/07/2024, giving me just one month to prepare.
The Pre-Race Chaos
Two days before, my “new-old” shoes broke—twice. I glued them back and hoped for the best. My bike tire also suffered a deep cut a week before, but I trusted the patch and sealant would hold.
Race Day
Nerves took over, but I focused on my goal: finish within 3 hours. Swim, bike, run—each stage was a blur. I pushed hard on the bike and paced myself on the run, my weakest event.
Crossing the Finish Line
No big celebration, just relief. My shoes held up just long enough, and my family was there cheering me on.
Post-Race Reflection
I missed my target time by 2:53min, but I’m proud. I placed 9th in the swim, 1st in cycling, and 15th in running out of 37 competitors in my age group. No podium, but it’s a win for me.
Will I Do It Again?
Not sure yet—fatigue hit hard afterward. As for an Ironman? Maybe one day. For now, I’m just grateful for the journey.
