Keira Floral

Keira Floral Nature Inspired Arrangements. Keira floral is a dream come true for its founder, Lowee. Or maybe you aren't here to buy flowers?
(13)

At Keira Floral, flowers are arranged a little differently from your typical florist. Inspired by nature, each floral arrangement is unique, alive or perhaps even happy. Keira Floral crafts thoughtfully, with each floral work meant to be statement pieces to celebrate the beautiful connection between Man and Nature. Keira floral also offers floral workshops for anyone who needs a therapeutic getaway from their
bustling life. Maybe flowers can't solve all problems,
but they are a great start.

I think one of the colors hardest to get in flowers is coral-ish shades! This blend of peach, pink, champagne & maybe even faint orange? But I can imagine a wedding or event that has these colors as its main theme & it will be so so beautiful šŸ„¹

If you were to describe yourself in a color palette, what would that be?šŸŒ This will be me for sure šŸ™ˆ Do you know that toffee roses were quite hard to get years ago? We have many beautiful earthy toned flowers now - cuppucino roses, toffee roses, caramel carnations, brick brown anthuriums šŸ„¹

A few of my favorite wedding set ups till date āœØ
Looking back, I think some of my best works were the ones where we get a lot of creative freedom from our clients šŸ¤
I often get asked if I miss styling weddings and the answer is noooo šŸ™ˆšŸ˜Š I think we had a good few years creating for our wedding clients, it was then that we grew our brand awareness the most, like a Peak in the Keira Floral journey. But it was also when I was living a misaligned life & got burnt-out. I now envision myself as creating a new peak for Keira Floral, with teaching and helping others build their flower business. It really is okay to bid goodbye to chapters that are no longer joyful & soulful, life is an ongoing journey of learning, unlearning & discovery. Go where makes your heart comes alive āœØāœØāœØ

While consolidating images for our online course, I found this šŸ„¹ My very first hanging installation 6 years ago šŸ„¹ There are definitely things Iā€™d change as I look at it now, such as creating more drama with the orchids & anthuriums & not have the pampas jutting out like that. BUT I am also very glad I went out of my comfort zone back then because this brought me a lot more hanging installation projects later on šŸ„¹ If youā€™re just starting out, my advice to you is to consistently share your works with your online audience. Find different ways to talk about it, enjoy & be proud of what you createāœØ Give your business time to grow & people will start noticing your works even if it doesnā€™t feel like it now šŸ§” You need to be the first person who like what you made šŸ˜Œ

What I love about my job with Keira Floral is getting to put beautiful colors and flowers together. Growing up, I never really considered myself creative, never would I have imagined Iā€™ll build this creative outlet with flowers šŸ„¹ I think in my world with flowers, thereā€™s no rule to being creative. To me really itā€™s about using various mediums to express our thoughts and feelings in ways that best describe us. If in that process we get to understand ourselves better, i think thatā€™ll be wonderful šŸ˜ŒšŸ§”

Join me at our upcoming 3 day floral design course this 15-17 June where weā€™ll explore seasonal flowers and craft them in various vessels! šŸ„³

Studentā€™s work in progress at Season 7 of our 3 Day Floral Design Course āœØ One of the things I enjoyed most in teaching our courses is seeing my studentsā€™ personalities in their floral arrangements. You have the ones who prefer gentle, neat arrangements & the ones who prefer bold, adventurous palettes and flowers. I think my role is to help students imagine these stories that they can tell through flowers. While giving actual feedback to help them know what to look out for is important, I think whatā€™s worth paying attention to is how students feel about their own arrangements as well šŸ˜Œ

Do you know that this centrepiece I made years ago never ā€œmade the cutā€ to be on our main IG feed? Back then, I spent hours trying to redo this arrangement, got really frustrated & i still wasnā€™t pleased with its final look. It has an awkward shape & the flowers doesnt seem to connect with one another. Coincidentally, I found a beautiful side profile of the arrangement (swipe left) & it felt like it was a lucky find.
Sharing this here because despite the curated feed, having bad craft days is real. Even after 8 years of Keira Floral, there are days where I feel uninspired too. Know that itā€™s okay! Treat yourself to a cup of coffee & begin again tomorrow šŸ§”

I like to craft arrangements that are wild looking and airy, as if they have been freshly plucked from vast flower fields. Thatā€™s how I hope my arrangements make people feel šŸ„¹

At our 3 Day Design Course, I share my crafting philosophies & techniques that students can bring home to kickstart their flower business or side hustle. It is even more precious to me when students get to make floral arrangements that are a representation of who they are šŸ§”šŸ„¹

Studentā€™s Work | One advise I give to my students is to not overthink while crafting. Just go with the flow, what feels more like you? What do you imagine this part of the floral arrangement to be? Do you like what you made? While I share my own floral crafting techniques during class, I think itā€™s also important for students to have their own benchmark of what they think is nice. That way, they can slowly discover and build their own styles too āœØ

Demo piece //
We made this during our mentorship programme for an event & I took a quick snap before touching it up & setting it in place. Itā€™s my first time making a mostly calla lily floral frog centerpiece and I love how simple and clean it looks. Less is enough šŸ˜Œ Not all flowers hold up well in a floral frog pin but calla lilies are quite okay! They have softer stems though so minimize shifting them around once they are in the pin to minimize tearing their stems āœØ Hope this gives you some inspiration for your next diy project! šŸ„°

Studentā€™s work āœØ
In this one to one private class, we worked with delicate flowers such as the calla lily. I wouldnā€™t usually add calla lilies into my bowl centrepieces because they are a little awkward in shape but these ones are perfect right here. I love exploring and experimenting with different seasonal materials with my students & weā€™ve never crafted identical pieces ever šŸ§”

One of my goals in running our 16 day mentorship programme is to help my mentees create their catalogue portfolio, so that they can use it for their online store when they are ready to launch their floral business. We had some left over spireas and my mentee asked me to create some spirea magic for fun šŸ˜œ I visualized a dramatic spirea bouquet, but added in the pink nerine for that extra pulp look. The little other foliage was for some craziness. Oh, and the wrapping style was inspired by ā€™ quirky, funky brand image and her resources šŸ˜Ž Thank you for being my hand model here too!šŸ„°

Our Studentā€™s Work | The white-green color palette is one of my favorite because it is so so timeless and classy. There are so many options when it comes to white florals & green foliages. You can also blend it with shades of yellow, or cappuccino or blush & youā€™ll have a brand new color palette all together. Drop me a DM if youā€™re uncertain of a color palette you have for your event & Iā€™ll be happy to advise!

Dedicating the last post of 2023 to share our joy - the arrival of our baby boy two weeks ago šŸ§” 2023 was a year of self development for me & stepping out of my comfort zone for Keira Floral. Time near year end always seems to be racing towards the finishing line. Are there things you wished youā€™ve done but hadnā€™t been able to do so? Were there items still left unchecked in your to-do-list? I know Iā€™ve got plenty but I also know that itā€™s okay to pace myself šŸ˜Œ Know that you can start on your dreams and goals whenever you are ready, it doesnā€™t have to be a year end or year start thing šŸ§”

My advice to creating an airy, flowy arrangement is to have enough or more dainty filler flowers to blend with your bigger focal blooms āœØ Some of the dainty blooms that are really nice to work with include euphorbia, daffodils, sweet peas, butterfly ranunculus & asclepias. Join me at our last 3 day floral design course this year to learn how we work with seasonal blooms āœØ Registration details are up on our website! P.s: featuring our studentā€™s bouquet here šŸ„°

Growing up, I studied hard & usually do well through rote memory so I wouldnā€™t have thought of describing myself as a creative. I didnā€™t enjoy math & so thought I would never want to be a business owner. Funny how things turned out āœØ Looking back, i do realise that the inner child in me always had interests similar to that of an artist, or maybe we all have that in us if we allow ourselves to explore, and allow art, fun and creativity into our lives. Today, i put colors together through flowers and have my own benchmark of what I think is aesthetically nice. Although it wasnā€™t exactly what I imagined Iā€™d be doing as a career decades ago, I think Iā€™m pretty contented now too, every journey was perhaps meant to be šŸ˜ŒšŸ§”

Worked with some pearl white butterfly Ranunculus today šŸš One very common question I get is, what is the time of the year that has the best seasonal flowers?
